The sunlight beamed in from the widow. The boy's eyes opened from the sun beaming onto his face, half expecting to wake up in the orphanage again the boy sat up and looked around. He wasn't in the park anymore... he was dry... and in a bed. Disoriented the boy sat up and immediately grabbed his head his head was pounding, his heartbeat in his ears, sighing through his nose the boy stood up only to stumble forward catching himself on the dresser. His legs felt like jelly, and his lungs felt like they were being squeezed by a gorilla. Coughing the boy tried to catch his breath, after a minute or two of this he started to breathe normally. "Asthma attack? No, I don't have that... do I?" The boy thought to himself as he steadied himself. He spotted his duffle bag near him and reached for it. Unzipping the bag he pushed all the clothes aside and pulled out the switchblade gripping it in his hands the young boy stumbled forward and pushed the old wooden door open.
Once he was in the hallway he looked around, everything looked outdated, candles instead of lightbulbs, stone brick walls, old creaking wooden floors, etc. As he walked toward the stairs he heard people chatting but it sounded strange. He heard words like 'Muggle', 'Hogwarts', 'Quidditch', 'Butterbeer', 'Galleon', etc. When he reached the stairs he collided with a tall man. Stumbling back the boy caught the table to steady himself. Looking up he saw a man with a hooked nose, black neck-length hair, and black robes. Next to him was an older gentleman with long silver hair, twinkling blue eyes, half-moon glasses, and gray and faded blue robes. The boy's scanned his hand gripping the switchblade tighter. "Who are you? Where am I?" The boy said without an ounce of fear. The hooked-nosed man scowled but remained silent so the older of the two began to speak. "My name is Albus Dumbledore, headmaster at Hogwarts, this here is Severus Snape, the Potions Master at Hogwarts." He said, a small smile adorning his face. "You must be Y/N." The boy's eyes widened. "How-" "Your name is infamous in the Wizarding World," Severus said scowling as he grabbed Y/N's arm. His eyes widened adrenaline filled his veins and memories of the orphanage plagued his mind once more. His fight or flight response was triggered, opening the blade he swung at the hooked nose man who leaned back but the blade cut his cheek just under his left eye. "Stay back!" Y/N yelled pointing the knife at the two. Scowling Severus started to pull out his wand only to be stopped by Dumbledore. "Now young Y/N, calm down." "And why should I!?" He yelled but got lightheaded once more causing him to stumble and fall into a kneeling position, one hand gripping his head and the other still holding the knife. He groaned at the feeling. "Accio." The older man spoke causing the blade to leave the young boy's hand and fly into Albus' hand. "What the...?" Y/N began, his eyes wide with shock. "Now. We can talk." The man spoke with a smile. "You see, you are in London. Quite the way away from California. You were brought here, by whom is unknown. But he left you outside the doors to the Leaky Cauldron, coincidently a woman saw you and brought you in." Dumbledore spoke as the young boy stood up rubbing his head. "So... what is this? And how'd you take my knife?" The boy questioned. "Magic," Snape spoke. "Magic? Are you two okay mentally? I know you Brits don't have the best living conditions but..." Snape scowled more if that was even possible. Dumbledore, a smile still on his face began to speak. "I'm sure you've noticed it. Unusual things happening with no explanation." Dumbledore spoke causing Y/N to look down and begin to think. Sure there were some odd things but he just chalked them up. To freak accidents, a nun's dress randomly caught fire when he glared at her, things starting to levitate before he could pick them up. "So... Magic's real? And I have it?" Y/N questioned confused by the whole ordeal. "Yes. That's exactly right." Y/N was still confused about this whole ordeal. "So why are you two here? I doubt it was for a check-up." Y/N spoke his guard rising once more. "Well, you see, with these circumstances, you weren't supposed to find out about any of this. Normally children that are Muggle raised-" "Muggle?" Y/N raised an eyebrow at the unfamiliar word. "-non-magic people." Dumbledore clarifies. "They normally find out at the age of eleven. But you, find out now when you're ten. As well as you being an American in the United Kingdom. You were supposed to attend Ilvermorny but since you're here now, with no explanation as to why, you are going to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on September 19th, 1991." Y/N blinked a few times normally he would called them crazy but they've shown proof... "And what am I supposed to do? Just live here for a year?" "Precisely." Dumbledore smiled his twinkling blue eyes filled with hope. "We've brought you a few books about this new world. Tom, the barkeep, has agreed to help look after you." Dumbledore said flicking his wand as a stack of books appeared on the floor. "We wish you luck Mr. Y/N."
Dumbledore and Snape returned to Hogwarts they began to talk. "You didn't tell the boy," Snape said looking at Dumbledore from the corner of his eye. "I'm aware. It wasn't my place to tell him. We aren't even sure if he has his father's gift. Only time will tell." Dumbledore spoke in his usual wise tone. Snape narrowed his eyes slightly. "Let's see if he truly is Igor and Amaris' child." "We shall see... but for now... let him enjoy his oblivious bliss for a while longer."
