"Y/N wake up!"
Y/N jumped up wide awake immediately, hearing her heart pounding in her ears. She looked around quickly before she saw Roman in the kitchen jerking the oven away from the wall, her eyebrows narrowed together in confusion before she caught the scent of gas.
She got up, ignoring the pain in her thigh as she hurried to the front door without trying to inhale. She opened the door then hurried to the windows to open as well, needing to air this house out quickly.
"Did you turn it off?" She asked, using her shirt as a mask and limping to the back door in the kitchen.
"I did, you need to go outside."
Before she did, she turned off the geothermal and with the support from Roman's body he led her outside. The sun was setting, creating a gloomy look to the world around them. She stared out into her backyard, looking at the demons while being held by Roman's arm around her waist.
"How did that happen, I thought they couldn't get in?" Her voice cracked.
"The Angel of Death can cause any tragic accident without physically lifting a finger."
"But wouldn't they have known you'd smell it?" Y/N asked, turning to face him.
"Yes, but I can guess it was their way to remind us you're not safe and they're not going to quit whether I'm around or not."
"So now I must worry about shit like that happening?" She spat, pushing him away. "Oh my god!"
"No, let me worry about it."
She felt angry and frightened simultaneously and unable to swallow both emotions, her mind raced with thousands of thoughts and before she could speak to him, the house phone began ringing obnoxiously.
"I have to get that." She groaned, walking back into her house made her anxious but she knew Roman wasn't far away if she needed him. "Hello?" She didn't even bother to glance at the caller ID.
"Oh, thank god you're home!" Chris exclaimed on the other end. "I need you to come in tonight."
Y/N couldn't think clearly, he had to be joking right?
"Um, I can't dance?"
"You won't be dancing, you'll be serving. One of the girls came down with a cold or some crap, and I know you need money for a new car, Cora will pick you up. What do you say? I'll pay you extra!" He said way too quickly.
Y/N felt overwhelmed by all of this but he was right, she did need the money and maybe she could work if it didn't involve dancing.
"Yeah, okay, I'll come in."
"Good girl, see you at nine thirty."
Then the line went dead. She slammed the phone down on the kitchen counter and let out a blood curdling scream in frustration. Roman watched her have her little tantrum and the demons froze in their thoughts, wondering if they should rush in.
She wasn't sure how she was going to manage to serve drinks while limping but she would have to deal, even having to get ready would be a hassle. But she couldn't afford to lose her job right now. Roman watched her walk out of his sight so he began to follow her, she was limping towards her bedroom.
"What are you doing?"
"I have to go to work." She opened the bedroom door and flicked the switch on the wall. "I need the money."
"You're going to dance on a pole while looking like that?" Roman chuckled, leaning against the doorframe. But he was getting pissed off, he didn't want to watch her shake her ass to others.
