Panic surged through Y/N as she searched every nook and cranny of the apartment, her heart pounding in her chest with each passing moment.
Finding no one, she dialed Taehyung's number, the urgency in her voice betraying the fear gripping her soul. "Taehyung! Are you busy?"
"Hey," came his sleepy voice from the other end of the line, followed by a tired yawn. "What's the matter? Where are you?"
"I'm home. Listen... Jin is not here," she rushed out, her words tumbling over each other in her haste. "The main door was already opened when I came!" Her voice trembled with anxiety and apprehension.
"I'm coming right now!"
"Till then, I'll search for him," she mumbled, the urgency of the situation propelling her out the door and into the night.
She didn't know where to search for him, and with each passing moment, the weight of uncertainty pressed down upon her like a suffocating blanket.
How could he just leave like that?
Questions spun endlessly in her mind, each one more frantic than the last. As the night wore on and the streets grew quiet, her desperation mounted. She combed through every alley and side street, het heart pounding with each fruitless step. With each passing minute, the darkness seemed to deepen, mirroring the bleakness of her thoughts.
"Hey, did you find him?" Taehyung's voice cut through the stillness of the night, his figure approaching with hurried steps.
"No." Y/N replied, her voice tinged with anxiety as she scanned the dimly lit surroundings.
Taehyung sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping in defeat as he leaned against a nearby lamppost for support. Y/N's gaze shifted to the young man with bambi eyes beside him, who seemed equally exhausted from the search.
Taehyung noticing her eyes introduced him, "Oh he's Jungkook, the newbie I told you about. He insisted on helping."
"Thanks," she offered a tired smile to him, who returned it shyly.
"Okay, let's search again. Let's split up," she suggested, determination flickering in her eyes as she prepared to resume their desperate hunt. With nods of agreement, they dispersed into the night, each of them clinging to a flicker of hope as they scoured the streets, praying for any sign of Jin.
After what felt like an eternity of fruitless searching, Y/N huffed in exhaustion, sinking to her knees as she scanned the streets one final time. The sound of approaching footsteps heralded Taehyung and Jungkook's return, their faces etched with weariness.
"Couldn't find him," Taehyung panted, his voice heavy with disappointment.
"Neither could I," Y/N whispered, her heart sinking with each passing moment of uncertainty. "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have left him alone like that," she confessed, the weight of her guilt threatening to crush her as she stood, rubbing her forehead wearily.
"It's not. We'll find him," Taehyung reassured, his hand squeezing her shoulder.
"I think we should try the marketplaces. He might've gone there," Jungkook suggested tentatively, his expression filled with genuine concern.
"Alright, let's go," Y/N agreed, summoning the last reserves of her energy as she pushed herself to her feet.
They made their way to Taehyung's car, parked nearby, and she sank into the backseat, the exhaustion of the day weighing heavily upon her. Taehyung settled beside her, his own weariness evident as he leaned back, closing his eyes with a weary sigh.
"Let's go to Namdaemun market first," Y/N muttered to Jungkook, who was seated at the driver's seat, knowing how much Jin gets excited over food.
"Okay," Jungkook agreed, starting the engine.
