Ugly duckling

This random thing I wrote is basically how I'm feeling about everything going on and especially everything with transgender youth. Yes it doesn't really rhyme and or make sense but oh well.

Sorry if you're confused

-It's time to come out, I say.
Time to come out and face the world.
When I walked into that fresh sunlight I'm instantly pushed back
They reject me like an ugly duckling you hear from those childhood stories
They tell me I'm not right or correct. Morally correct in fact.
The ugly duckling got to grow up and face the world how it wants, and grew up to be a swan.
So why can't I?
Why can't I stretch my feathers out and grow how I please?
Why is it a bother to you?
Am I really that ugly?

-The world looks down on me
Instead of looking up.
I guess as an ugly duckling, I have to shut up.
But I deserve to grow .
And I deserve to know.
What made you hate us so?
Is it the fear of thinking we'll make your children ugly ducklings too?
An ugly duckling is never actually ugly
We're just wishing to be ourselves, and untouched.
But it seems not every duckling gets their wish.
