Philza always had 2 sons. Anyone he would meet he would meet he would introduce them to Wilbur and Techno. His 2 precious 20 year old adopted sons.
When he fostered Techno when he was 12, they got along very well, just the two of them. Few months afterwards he got a call from the foster home asking if he could take another child and that would be it. He sat Techno down and they talked, and then came Wilbur. Techno wasn't used to change, neither was Wilbur. But they got along pretty well
Both Techno and Wilbur had a bad home before Phil took them in, and they had a similar story. The foster parents had a biological kid that would hate them and make up lies constantly. And of course the foster parents had favorites, and of course they were violent and abusive when their little precious babies were "injured". Those were one of the reasons they accepted Phil's home better than they would have, he didn't have any biological kids. Trauma's hard innit?
Phil's background on the other hand. He used to tell this story every Christmas. He used to have a wife, her name was Kristen.She was his true soulmate. They would always dream about fostering and having kids of their own, but that she had to leave on a long trip to California and they never spoke again.
They used to think he was making it up, imagine their dad Phil having a wife how funny, until they got older and realized he wasn't. Well, partly. She was very real and they did want to have children, but she didn't travel to California. She sadly died during childbirth. But Phil's kid didn't survive very long. His name used to be Theseus, he was only a few months old when he got sick and sadly passed away. in the hospital.
Of course Wilbur and Techno felt bad, but all three of them were happy to have found eachother and be a family. Just the three of them
