The ride home was nice, I checked the kids from my rear mirror, and Sophie was singing along to the music I had on the car. She was smiling as she sang.
Once we got home, I was careful to get the kids inside quickly so they wouldn't get cold. I laid baby Dani on my couch carefully, I took a pic of them and sent it to Dante for him to be informed, and then I brought in the groceries, Sophie seemed happy as she was looking around.
"You have a pretty house, Sarah," She says looking around.
I smile, "Thank you, Sophie, honestly, I can't take all credit, my fiance loves to decorate, so a lot of this, is his doing," I confess. Marco is quite careful with details, he chose each accessory and furniture himself for our house, he said it was really important that everything was perfect for our home.
The little girl comes to the kitchen, where I'm putting away the groceries I bought. "Are you hungry princess?" I ask looking at her cute big eyes, she smiles and gives me a big nod. "What do you want? I'll do anything you ask me."
"Can I have a mac and cheese?" She asks cutely, and by the way she asked for it, I already know her father probably doesn't let her eat that, Dante cares a lot about a balanced diet, or at least he did.
"Of course, you can, but I'll do my secret recipe," I say winking at her, I'll add some vegetables to it in a fun way.
I go to check on the baby, he was still sleeping, he is so cute. I placed a fluffy quilt and I laid him on it with a light blanket, and then I returned to the kitchen with the girl, I carried her and sit her at the counter to have an eye on her while I cooked. She was telling me about her school and how much she liked drawing, it was nice to hear her, and it was nice to have the house with such joyous sounds.
"Sarah, can I tell you something?"
Her soft voice made me turn to her and nod, "Of course, princess, what is it?"
"You are so pretty and fun," She says looking at me.
That made my heart melt, her soft voice echoed in my mind as I felt so flustered by her words causing a smile on my face dedicated to her. "Thank you, princess. You are too," I say bopping her nose.
She lets out the cutest laugh and she gets shy. "Thank you for letting me come here with you today," She says.
"My pleasure, princess," I answer with a wink.
"I promise to behave and be a nice girl, I won't annoy you," She says a little nervous.
I stop what I'm doing as I turn to her a little surprised by her words, "Did Mia ask you those things?" I ask as I remember Sophie saying she didn't like her.
She shakes her head, but I don't completely believe her.
"No, but I know that sometimes I can be annoying," She says and focuses on the pot where the pasta is boiling.
There is an angry outburst inside of me at whoever had said that to Sophie, how anyone dare to? I took a deep breath not to let it out on the innocent girl and smile. "Well, you are not to me, and princess, you are a kid, it's normal for kids to misbehave... a little," I wink, "I promise I won't be mad at you for it," I say grabbing her hand.
At the touch, she looked up with her bright eyes a little shinier, as if she wanted to cry, but she simply nodded and hugged me, it was so sudden but it was genuine, I hugged her back and caressed her soft brownish hair.
"Now, you have to promise me something," I say still hugging her, she simply hums at me. "You won't ever ever call yourself annoying again, you hear me?" I ask her with a soft tone. She lets go and I separate from her to look into her blue eyes. She looks intently into my eyes and nods with a small smile.
