Lynn's POV:
Football in Royal Woods is taken very seriously. The whole community comes to support the boys and of course enjoy the show that cheer and band put on.
We spent the whole week preparing a half time routine for our game against Hazletucky High, our school rivals. (Y/N) explained to me the beef between our cheer squad and their cheer squad. Apparently for years Hazletucky has someone come and record our routines and then change the music and perform them like its theres the next year. They have been stealing cheers, dances, and stunts from us for over fifty years she said. So every year when it's time for this game we prepare the most intricate routines, there's basket tosses, three different pyramids, dancing, and tumbling.
"Hazletucky girls can't even hold up a full, last year when we played them their entire pyramid fell, they tried to recreate ours and miserably failed," (Y/N) laughed as walked to our bags. Coach gave us a ten minute break since we have been going full out for the past hour. Our practice time went from two hours to three hours so we were absolutely exhausted.
"Their basketball team hates my guts," I said as I chugged some water, "You know what so does their lacrosse team."
"What did you do?"
"We were tied, it was the game that was going to send either of us into the playoffs, their whole strategy for the game was to just get the ball away from me, ten seconds on the board Margo has the ball but she's cornered so in a split second she passes it to me and I just shoot it from half court, nothing but net, buzzer goes off and we won! I also may or may not have sent one of them to the hospital."
"Jesus Christ Lynn," she cried.
"They play nasty so I just fired back but they clearly couldn't handle it," I shrugged.
"Well get ready for some nasty looks from their girls, but we don't do it back," she looked at me, "We're the bigger people and keep things classy."
"That's why we have to hit zero on this, routine." Melissa added.
"That means do it perfectly no mistakes," (Y/N) explained to me.
Doing back to back full outs is not for the weak. Theres so much you have to think about. Formations, counts, the moves, spacing so you don't wack anyone in the head, what order everything is in, and have to do it all with a smile on your face and of course no mistakes so you can perform it in front of a huge crowd that consists of your closest friends and family. Again, not for the weak.
"My whole body hurts so bad I don't know if I can do it again," (Y/N) groaned.
"I'm so exhausted it's not even funny," added Stacey.
I felt like I could do it over and over again.
"So (Y/N) are we getting ready at your house tomorrow?"
"Oh um I actually told Lynn I'd help her out but your welcome to join us."
Stacey looked surprised, "Oh its fine, threes a crowd," she fake laughed, "So Lynn are you excited for your first friday night lights?"
"Yeah I guess so, I'm mostly looking forward to watching the game up close."
"I saw that they have a guy on their team who does one man stunts," (Y/N) said.
"Oh yeah I was told he used to play football but he got kicked off the team for being gay so now he does cheer," Stacey gossiped.
It was like everyone on the team had a sixth sense go off once the gossiping started because they all crowded towards us giving their input on what they heard.
