✿~ 𝐄𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐬𝐞 ~✿ /- 𝐇𝐚𝐣𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐔𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐲𝐚 𝐱 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫

Part ~ 1

|Hajime Umemiya, 11 years old.

[Furinen orphanage]

𝐔𝐦𝐞'𝐬 𝐏𝐎𝐕:

I felt like sleeping in today, so I did.
Now, it's around 9 AM in the morning and I can hear everyone outside talking.
And loudly, too.
What's with all the liveliness today?
I slowly get out of bed and walk outside into the main hall of the orphanage, seeing all the younger kids chatting really loud and sensei trying to calm them down, as usual.
But today, there's something different.
Someone different.
There's this new girl standing there near the door, bags near her feet, and it's her the kids are crowding around.
She looks to be around my age, and she looks pretty, too.
Oh, speaking of appearances, I didn't even realize that I'm still in my pajamas and my hair is all messed up.
Heck, I didn't even brush my teeth!
Good that nobody noticed me walk in, so I walk right back inside to the bedrooms and the first thing I do is go in the bathroom and brush my teeth.
The next thing?
Change my clothes.
I put on a colourful t-shirt which has some character on it that I don't know, and some random baggy sweatpants.
Good enough.
I grab a hair brush and comb my hair down fairly quickly, then put it back in the drawer I took it out of.
Now I can go outside and see what's going on for reals.
I walk back outside, and I'm actually noticed this time.
Sensei looks at me with a smile.

"Oh, Hajime, you're awake?
I was just about to come wake you up.
We have a new kid who's going to stay here with us from today.
Her name's y/n.
And she's your age, isn't that nice?"

The girl waves at me.
Ooo, she's my age?
That's a bit.. refreshing, I won't lie.
I've gotten used to being around all these kids, who're younger than me.
I should go talk to her.
I walk up to her and smile.

"Hi!
I'm Umemiya Hajime, and uh, I'm eleven.
Nice to meet you!"

She looks at me awkwardly.

"Uh, hi..
I'm l/n y/n, nice to meet you too."

Okay, at least she's willing to talk.

"Sensei said you're also eleven, right?
That's so cool.
That means we're both the eldest here.
You seem cool.
I hope we can be friends!
Wouldn't that be fun?
You're staying here with us now.
I wanna get to know ya more.
Oh, and by the way, while we're on that topic, what's your favourite food?"

She thinks for a bit.

"Uhm..
I don't really know..
I like a lot of foods.
But if I had to choose, then probably omlette rice."

My mood instantly brightens.

"Oh my gosh, really?!
That's my favourite food too!
What a coincidence!"

Her eyes widen a bit.
It seems like her mood has improved too.
I'm glad.
Oh, I have an idea.

"Want me to introduce everyone to ya?"

"Sure.."

And that's what we do for the next like ten minutes or so.
I walk her around the orphanage, showing all the rooms and introducing all the people and then after that, give her some time to settle in here.
She's pretty chill though, so I don't think it'll take her that long to get adjusted here, and also 'cause she said she's been in another orphanage before this.
And I've also realised something else.
She's not as shy as I thought she was when I first saw her.
Just really quiet.
And a bit awkward.
Which is understandable, 'cause this is her first day here, and she doesn't know anyone.
It's probably all new to her.
And that alone makes me wanna hang around her even more.
So that's exactly what I'm gonna do.
