"KYO, COULD YOU GO run to the store and buy a few things for me? The list is on the counter, sweetie. I'll be taking your brother to his game. Take care!"
Every word my mother uttered was completely censored in my brain as I lazily responded with a simple, "Yeah, yeah!" To please her.
In all honestly, I totally wanted to do what she was telling me. But I was about to beat my old highscore for this oddly enjoyable game I found in the attic an hour ago. It seemed dusty and in ruins at first but it worked when I charged it for a bit.
"Finally!" I accidentally say out loud having achieved my goal, "Hey, mom- oh, yeah, she's gone. What did she want me to do again?"
I look around the living room to try and remember what she was talking about earlier when I wasn't paying attention. My eyes laid upon the table as I see a piece of paper with a few grocery items written in blue ink.
"Why are we restocking when we just went out a week ago? Oh, well," I shrugged that small fact off as I put the piece of paper in my pockets and head outside with my bike.
It was a hot outside, obviously, since it's summer. But I couldn't bear the heat for some reason this time. So I went ahead and stopped by a 7/11 nearby to grab a drink and cool down.
I felt the cool air of the air-conditioning hit my skin the moment I went inside, making me sigh in pleasure. The moment passed quickly as I remember what business I actually had here. So I went ahead and grabbed a Coca Cola and a snack, just 'cause I was feeling a little hungry.
"How much do I even have?"
Making my way to a table, I start counting the allowance that I brought along. Knowing that I had enough for what I was about to buy, I pay for my drink and bag of chips in order to get going.
"That'd be $2.50," The cashier smiled as I give her the exact amount she needed.
While I was walking towards the door, I suddenly see a book on top of the table I was just counting my money at. It was weird, as I was the only customer inside the building.
Out of curiousity, I felt myself being pulled towards it.
I couldn't remember anything after that.
Everything went dark.
