While we are chatting, (actually, it's Genya and inosuke who are chatting. I just step in from time to time to make sure an argument doesn't break out. I don't really wanna talk to that guy. I still don't forgive him for hitting that little girl.) Genya turns around and freezes. I turn around and do the same.
It's the mist hashira.
We are so dead. Tanjiro is so dead. I stop to think about how I didn't hear him, and then look at him again. Of course I didn't hear him, he's the goddamn mist hashira.
Genya's "Hey" is met with silence. I give up. Genya is just as much an idiot as Inosuke.
"We uh, were taking Tanjiro on a walk. He didn't look so good so we figured he should get some fresh air."
The mist hashira doesn't buy it. He seems intrigued, though.
"Hmm. You don't think the trial is fair, do you?"
Genya looks stuck.
"Uhh-"
He doesn't let him finish.
"Neither do I. Tomioka is also on trial apparently, because he stood by Nezuko as well, but he doesn't seem to want to help himself at all.
Me and Kanroji are the only ones advocating for them. Kocho seems to want to help as well, but for now she remains undecided."
We are all shocked. Well, except for Tanjiro. He's been a blank slate since we rescued him.
"If Tanjiro disappears from the trial, he will immediately be presumed guilty. But I don't know how much of a chance he has anyway. I owe him something, so I am going to try to get him back in the trial to help, but in the meantime, I'll walk with you guys."
Hmm. So he doesn't seem to be a true threat, but he could thwart our mission.
Genya speaks up, and apparently he's thinking the same thing we all are.
"Uhm, Tokito-
"It's alright. You can call me Muichiro."
"Muichiro, I don't think I've ever heard you speak this much."
Tokito smiles. (Wow. That's a first)
"Remember how I said I owe Tanjiro something? My memory. Something about him jogged my memory."
Genya smiles too, back at him. "That's cool. Uh, I mean, that's really great."
Jeeze, where'd this guys scary aura go? Right out the window, the second he saw Tokito. What a loser. He seems pretty nervous. I sorta get it, the hashira are scary people, but this guy's literally two years younger than us. He seems weirdly mature though.
