"Uh... guys. I think I'll-", Yunhee gets cut off. "No. Don't tell me you want to leave now. This is like the highlight of the school's festival.", Su-ah sulked.
"Come on, Yunhee. Please stay.", Jukyung pleads before Su-ah drags Yunhee to take their seats. Yunhee sighed in defeat. She wasn't really in the mood to enjoy anything anymore. Not after what happened earlier.
"This song isn't widely known, but it's one by the late Jeong Seyeon who I was a fan of. I bring you this song in memory of Jeong Seyeon who left this world a year ago.", the singer announces.
The band then starts to play a melancholic song. Soon, the students who sat in front of the girls gossiped about the late Jeong Seyeon. They mentioned the cause of the latter's death, suicide.
"Why did it have to be this song?", Sujin asked in disbelief. "Han Seojun might start it up with Suho again.", she continued.
"Why? Is there a history between them?", Su-ah asked in curiosity. Yunhee wasn't going to lie, but she was also curious about it. She listened in on Sujin's story about the late Jeong Seyeon's friendship with Suho and Seojun.
Yunhee feeling discomfort by the mention of the Lee boy again, excused herself. "I actually have to go guys. Sorry.", the three girls looked at her departing figure, in confusion.
The conversation about Jeong Seyeon had stirred something deep within Yunhee, and she felt an urgent need to clear her head.
As she walked up, she caught sight of a familiar figure bent over near a brick planter. Suho was there, hands on his knees, trembling and struggling to catch his breath. His eyes were red and swollen as if he had been crying. The sight sent a jolt of worry through Yunhee.
"Lee Suho?", she called out, hurrying towards him. He didn't respond. Instead, he staggered forward, grabbing the edge of the planter box for support. His entire body seemed to be trembling, and Yunhee's heart ached at the sight of his distress.
"Suho, are you okay?", she asked, reaching out to him. But before she could touch his shoulder, he recoiled, his eyes wild and filled with panic.
"Go away.", he snapped, his voice harsh and strained. "Just leave me alone."
"Suho, please.", Yunhee pleaded, her voice soft but firm. "You don't look well. Let me help you.", Suho shook his head strongly, backing away from her. "I said go away!", he shouted, his voice breaking. He turned and began to run, his steps unsteady and faltering.
Yunhee stood frozen for a moment, torn between respecting his wish for solitude and the overwhelming urge to help him. As Suho stumbled down the path, her concern won out. She couldn't leave him like this, not when he was clearly in such distress.
She took off after him, her heart pounding as she followed his path. The chase led her through winding alleys and streets, the school was out of sight.
"Suho, wait!", she called out, her breath coming in ragged gasps. But he didn't stop. His figure, a mere shadow in the distance, moved with a frantic urgency that only deepened her worry.
Finally, they reached the base of a building, its structure looming against the night sky. Suho darted inside, and Yunhee hesitated for a moment before following him up the staircase that seemed to stretch endlessly upwards. The building was quiet, and each step echoed in the silence.
When she finally reached the rooftop, she found Suho leaning against a wall, hunched with his arms on his knees, sobbing quietly. "Suho.", Yunhee said softly, approaching him with cautious steps.
Suho didn't look up. His shoulders were hunched, and she could see his body trembling with silent sobs. Her eyes started to sting. As the Park girl neared his sobbing figure, he finally looked up. His eyes glistened with tears.
