Maya's POV:
Walking down the hall with Nat and Wanda, I tried to take in my new surroundings. They pointed out where everyone stayed, giving me a brief rundown of the layout.
Wanda stopped at a door and smiled. "And your room is right here. I know it can be weird being in a new place, but trust me, you're safe. My room is across the hall, Nat's is at the end, and Bucky is next door to you."
I stopped in my tracks, feeling the heat rise to my face. "Bucky?" My voice wavered, betraying my nerves. I silently prayed it wasn't who I thought. 'Please...please for the love of all things earthly, outer worldly and interplanetary....don't be him.'
Nat smirked. "Oh yes, Bucky. The metal-armed, sweaty Jesus you met at the meeting." She recalled my reaction to him walking into the conference room, causing Wanda to look confused.
"His name is Bucky?" I asked, still hoping for a different answer.
"James. James Buchanan Barnes. But he goes by Bucky," Wanda explained as we continued to my room.
"Fuck," I sighed.
"Yeah, sweetie, you said that already," Nat chuckled. "Come on, let's get you settled in."
The room was stunning, definitely more than I was accustomed to. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered an amazing view of the mountains. I had my own balcony, a king-sized bed, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom that quickly became my favorite part. A clawfoot bathtub, a full walk-in shower, and all my favorite toiletries, including Orchid and Black Currant body wash, were stocked by the tub.
I turned to Nat, amazed. "Wait, how did...?"
Nat cut me off with a wink. "We research each incoming member and learn everything about them. Not to sound creepy, but some of us have been watching you for weeks."
"We just want you to feel at home," Wanda said, her warm, genuine smile easing my nerves.
Nat was welcoming too, but in a different way. She seemed feisty, fun, and an all-around badass. I could learn some things from her.
"Thank you both for helping me settle in. I do have one question, though," I said, facing them fully.
Nat nodded. "Sure, what's up?"
"This party tonight, how fancy are we talking? Because what I have on is about the fanciest thing I packed. I wasn't expecting a billionaire gathering to announce my arrival."
Nat and Wanda laughed.
"Nothing too fancy. We are pretty casual around here," Nat replied.
"So... jeans and T-shirt?" I asked hopefully.
"More like cocktail. Don't worry, I'm sure one of us has something you can wear. Right, Nat?" Wanda said.
"Definitely. I have the perfect little black dress you can borrow," Nat smiled.
"Really? Thank you. Obviously can't wear my normal clothes. Not exactly cocktail party appropriate," I said nervously.
"We are pretty sure you would look good in a paper bag," Nat said.
"Perfect! That's all I brought."
We all laughed as I turn to take in my surroundings.
"Okay, well Nat, let's leave Maya to rest for a bit and go help Tony get ready for tonight," Wanda said, turning towards the door.
"I'll bring that dress by a little later for you," Nat said, following Wanda.
"Thanks, guys. I'll see you later then. Oh wait, who all was watching me??" I turn and called after them, but they were already gone.
