Human. I'm a regular, weak female. That's what my last victim told me, before getting stabbed with my silver-plated dagger. I grew up in a small, yet well-furnished home. I live with my father in the realm of Aloria - where humans and fae live in unison.

Well, that's what I thought.

Recently, humans have been captured by the fae and taken to the forest where the fae live. However, this forest isn't any forest. Once you go in, you can't come out. This forest is the one where my mother was taken.

A tall fae woman barged in one day, muttering about a curse bestowed upon our bloodline, saying that my mother was the sacrifice for that stupid curse. I don't know much about this 'curse'. In fact, I don't know anything about it. My mother has been gone for a year now, and my brother and father still can't seem to accept that. She's not coming back. My brother, Arthur, goes outside and sells leather shoes that he makes. We don't have much, but at least we have a roof over our heads.

The sun started setting and that was my signal to sleep. I roll out the mattress, laying a thin, white, bedsheet atop it. Arthur came into the room, wobbling and barely able to stand, balancing on his feet. He was about to collapse onto the floor until I quickly slid under him and tugged him up with my arms. "Woah," I exclaimed, "I told you to go light on the drinks, didn't I?" He let out a groggy sound, "Azryn. She's gone. Mama's gone." I sighed and stared at my helpless brother. "She's been gone for long, Arthur. For long." I quickly wrap his arm around my shoulders and start carrying him towards the bed. "I'll bring you some water. You don't look great, Archie."

I quickly swoop outside and go to hug my dad. "No luck today?" I ask with a frown. "No Azryn. Sorry. Not today either." I squeeze him. "It's alright Dad, I guess I'll have to go back to my thieving days." I shrug. "Azryn-" I cut him off. "Yes Dad, I know. But we don't have a choice. We need the money more than some rich people who actually sleep on beds." I gave my bed to Arthur while I slept on the mattress. It took a lot of convincing, but I'd do anything for my brother. He was born 7 minutes after me, making me the elder one.

I kiss my dad on his cheek and go to the kitchen to fill up the water. I grab a mug and pour water from the tap and pop in a tablet. I run into the room, hoping he isn't asleep already. I hear Arthur groan as I flip the light switch. Definitely awake. I go and help him up, placing the glass in his hand and pushing it towards his mouth. "Drink up, Arthur." I practically moan that out from tiredness.

I fall onto the mattress, hitting my head slightly on the wall. I curse out loud and run my hands through my face. Tomorrow's going to be a hell of a day.

I wake up before the morning sun stretches its rays. I look over at Arthur, who seems to be in deep sleep. I quickly brush my teeth and run out the door. I have a lot to do today, so I better get to it.

I pull my cloak over my head - trying to hide my face from the possible victims I'm stealing from. I examine the crowd for people who look like they have a lot of Alors*. Spotted. A towering, lanky woman wearing a beautiful purple tunic and white, loose pants with a small white handbag filled with Alors. So many Alors. My eyes lost their warmth and turned hungry. My family hasn't eaten in days. And I would kill for food. I shuffle through the crowd trying to reach the woman's handbag. Perfect. She's distracted, talking to a shopkeeper. This is my chance. I flap open the handbag discreetly and grab a handful of coins. She doesn't notice and I slip away. This many Alors could feed all of us for 5 days. I've hit the jackpot. I grin slyly and shove the coins in my pocket. Seems like my works done, for now.

I can sense people's emotions and thoughts. I can even enter people's minds. Invading their personal space is one of my hobbies. However, it's not a gift like everyone thinks it is. Sometimes, if a person's emotions are too strong, I can't block myself from entering their mind and it traumatizes me. An unimaginable pain sears through my veins and into my blood. It's a curse. Sure, It's useful when it is, but it's a burden I have to carry.

Just then, another target spotted. Luck is spoiling me. What next? I'm going to find the prince and he's going to give me everything? Shut up, Azryn. Getting too far ahead of yourself. I shake my head and my thoughts disappear like clouds of smoke.

Ah, yes. A tall, muscular man with wavy jet black hair and eyes like blackholes. What's even more charming, however, is the money in his pocket. I push people out of my way and jump behind him. All I have to do now, is take the money. I quickly put my hand in his pocket and shuffle around. I take my hand out expecting to see glowing Alors. But what I see instead, is marble stones? I look up at the man, who's grinning slyly. He doesn't look much older than I am. Maybe 20?

"Trying to steal from me, huh? I'm always a step ahead." He narrows his eyes and smirks. I snap at him, "Well, I don't plan on stealing from idiots, idiot." I furrow my brows and salut with my hand, signaling a goodbye.
