Unfortunately for them, they had to march once more.
"Popeye's saying they're taking us across the Danube tomorrow", Bucky explains. "We move tonight or we don't move at all."
"Tonight?", Gale and Y/N question at the same time.
"Tonight."
"We won't be able to make a run for it after that, Gale", George tries to reason. "The river is too damn big to get back to this other side. Listen, guys are starting to break out into groups."
"Buck if we keep it tight, me, you, George, Y/N. You know it's a better chance to move unseen", Bucky says.
That's when a plane is heard from above, making the group stop walking.
"P-51!", someone yells, turning to group into panic as they all try to get off the path.
The airplane starts shooting down the path, screams and shouts filled their ears, killing no less than 50 men in its way.
Bucky runs up to the captain yelling at him for making them move at night. He had to be held back by a few group members since he became very agitated and was yelling directly in his face.
Gale looks at Y/N. "You in?"
She nods without hesitation, not wanting to be stuck with the Germans for the rest of the war. "I'm in."
He then goes up to Bucky grabbing him by the collar to get him out of his trance. "John, look at me, look at me!"
Bucky stops his yelling.
"We're in. We make a run for it tonight."
"Calm down, before they put a bullet in your head", Y/N adds on.
Their plan was in action, the only problem? - They had no idea where they were.
"According to Jefferson's map, there's a forest a few miles north-west. If we make it that far, we should be pretty well-covered."
"Oh, we'll make it that far", Bucky says.
"I say we head down that way", Buck points out an opening with a fence, low enough to jump without being noticed. "Take advantage of the confusion while we still can.
"Over that wall. All right, who wants to go first?", Bucky asks.
"I'll go", George volunteers, slipping away towards their exit.
"All right Bill, go."
He follows after George.
"Get going, I'll be right behind you two", Bucky says.
"All right", Buck nods and does as he is told.
"Y/N, go."
She looks over the wall and back to him.
"Promise me", she says, looking at him with pleading eyes.
"I'd never leave you, you know that."
She shakes her hands and goes up to him, quickly giving him a sweet kiss on the cheek before rushing off after Gale.
