How much more walking did they have to endure? It was marching, after marching, and more marching. Y/N didn't know how much longer she could walk in a crowd that doesn't understand the concept of personal space or a straight line. One foot in front of the other. It isn't that har, is it?

"Popeye's saying they're taking us across the Danube tomorrow", Bucky explains. "We move tonight, or we don't move at all."

Bucky had been adamant about escaping ever since he stepped foot into that boot camp. Well, Buck tells her whenever she got there, his planning became more common. Now he had been explaining why it was crucial with the way things were looking. It was either they made a run for it or walk into whatever the Germans had planned for them at the end of the path.

"Tonight?", Gale and Y/N question at the same time.

"Tonight", he resolves with a short nod, looking around at all the men that walked with them.

"We won't be able to make a run for it after that, Gale", George tries to reason. "The river is too damn big to get back to this other side. Listen, guys are starting to break out into groups."

"Buck if we keep it tight, me, you, George, Y/N. You know it's a better chance to move unseen", Bucky tries convincing though the girl could already see Buck leaning over the line to side with his best friend.

That's when a plane is heard from above, the low buzzing noise becoming louder with each passing second. Everyone had stopped moving at that point, turning their heads in all directions trying to find sight of the aircraft that sounded to be coming straight for them.

"P-51!", someone shouts, turning to group into panic as they all try to get off the path.

P-51 planes were part of their team. They were their fighter jets though putting yourself in the minds of the pilot, there were a group of people along a path, carrying things that cannot be identified from above, and most importantly, they were in Germany. So, when the firing of shots was heard, kicking up dirt from behind, no one was surprised.

Screams and yelps of pain filled the ears of those that were out that night, the plane killing no less than 50 men from its round.

Bucky was one of the first to stand up, speeding his way up to the captain yelling at him for making them walk at night, his voice breaking from the volume it was emitting. He had to be held back by a few others since he was becoming extremely agitated and was hollering directly in a German's face.

Gale looks at Y/N during the commotion, reading her expression of despair. "You in?"

She nods without hesitation, not wanting to be stuck with the Germans who do not seem to know what they're doing for much longer. "I'm in."

He then goes up to Bucky grabbing him by the collar, shaking him out of his trance. "John, look at me, look at me!"

Bucky stops his yelling, shifting his eyes to the blonde with a diluted look of fury.

"We're in. We make a run for it tonight."

"Calm down, before they put a bullet in your head", Y/N says as she struts up to the pair, hitting Bucky on the backside of the head.

Their plan was in action, the only problem? - They had no sense of where they were.

"According to Jefferson's map, there's a forest a few miles north-west. If we make it that far, we should be pretty well-covered", George points in the air, trying to get a clue of how far away they were from the forest he's describing.
