Chapter 6 • The results

* Lucy's POV *

I wake upto my alarm so I turn it off then go straight to the bathroom to get showered then I get changed into some smart casual clothes.
I then put my hair up in my usual low bun then go and get some breakfast.

Once I've eaten, I grab all my things and get in the car heading to the local social services department.

It takes about half an hour to get there and I pull into the nearest parking spot before turning off the car and taking a deep breath then getting out of the car and making my way inside.
When I get to the reception desk
Lucy: Hi, I'm here for a meeting at 9:30
The receptionist looks at her computer
Receptionist: Name?
Lucy: Lucy Bronze
She looks at the computer again
Receptionist: Ok, if you go through that door then take a right and it will be on your left
I nod
Lucy: Thank you
Then I start my walk, through the door, taking a right then stopping at the door to my left taking a deep breath before I knock on the door
SSL: Come in
I open the door to reveal my social services liaison sat at her desk
SSL: Ah Lucy, Come in and take a seat
I walk in close the door then sit down on the seat opposite her.
SSL: So I'm gonna get straight to the point
I nod with a grateful smile
SSL: I have looked into the child and her background plus the background you gave me and could you please verify your ex boyfriends name please
Lucy: Dylan Roman Foster
She nods and looks at her paper work for a second
SSL: ok so, I would like to do a DNA test as we regularly do them on the kids so we can see if it matches
I nod
Lucy: Yes that's fine
SSL: If you would like to follow me we can do that now
I nod and we go upstairs then to a doctor's office looking room where I see what looks like a nurse
SSL: Just a DNA test please
She tells the nurse who nods
Nurse: Please take a seat
She tells me and I do so then she sets everything up and takes my blood.

After she's taken my blood
SSL: Put it on important
The nurse nods
Nurse: It should take an hour
SSL: Ok
The nurse walks out
SSL: Why don't you go and get a coffee at the cafe downstairs whilst we wait and I will come get you when we have the results
I nod
Lucy: Ok, thank you
We both walk out and she shows me to the cafe before leaving and I get a drink and sit down updating Keira and whats happening.

Around an hour later my social services liaison walks in and over to me
SSL: Hi Lucy, do you want to come with me?
I nod and follow her to her office sitting down in the same seats as before.
SSL: So
She does some things on her laptop then looks at me with a serious face
SSL: The results have come back and they are
My knee starts bouncing showing my nerves
SSL: a match
She says smiling and let out my breath and smile back
SSL: Now we will have to do some meet ups but I'm fairly positive that if they go well then you can get your little girl back
Lucy: Thank you so much, what will the meet ups entail?
SSL: The first one will be with both of you and her Social worker then if the social worker is confident then the second one can be just you two then an overnight stay at yours then moving in with some sort of weekly checkups which can be in person or on the phone for a month then full custody
I nod
Lucy: Thank you so much
SSL: I will get the social worker to contact you at some point today to arrange the first meet up.
I nod
Lucy: I really appreciate this, thank you so much
I give her a massive smile
SSL: It's what I'm here for
She smiles back at me
SSL: Let me walk you out
She walks me out and I say thank you again before getting to my car.

I shut the door and feel emotion overcome me and I begin crying so I call Keira as I know she will help and she picks up immediately
Kiera: Oh Luce, are you ok?
I nod
Lucy: She's mine, she's really mine
I look up at Kiera with a smile and Kiera smiles back at me
Kiera: That's amazing Luce
I calm down after a few minutes and tell Kiera what I was talking about meet ups and such
Kiera: That's so amazing, I'm really happy for you Luce, I can't wait to meet her
She smiles
Lucy: I love you
Kiera: I love you too babe
Lucy: I should get back but I will talk to you later
She nods and I hang up starting my drive back.

When I get back, I chill on the bed when I get a phone call from an unknown number
Lucy: Hello?
??: Hi, is this Lucy Bronze?
Lucy: Yes who is this?
??: this is Nate, hi I'm Isla-Wren's social worker
Lucy: Oh, hello
Nate: I'm calling about doing a meetup now I'm sure we both want to get this done as soon as possible so I was wondering whether you were free this weekend for the first meetup?
Lucy: yes, I am free all weekend
Nate: Perfect, what if we meet for lunch on Saturday around 12?
Lucy: That sounds perfect
Nate: Now I need to update you on some things before you come for the meet up, Isla-Wren is autistic and has selective Mutism which is caused by anxiety so she will probably not speak to you
Lucy: Ok, that's absolutely fine
Nate: Ok well I will see you tomorrow then
Lucy: ok, bye
He hangs up and I feel a wave of happiness wash over me.
