A/N: Hey everyone, Ventu1995 here, also known as Claire. This is the first time I have actually sat down and created a fan fiction (please be nice) after having many ideas for many different fandoms, I finally was brave enough to sit down and write this for the Nursery Nurse community. I have been a long standing fan of the Nursery Nurse, her videos have personally given me an escape for when things were tough and I am extremely grateful for all she has done for me. I also have on Tik Tok where I post edits of her videos, which hopefully has been saved as an external link on here, if not then here is the user: @ventu.nursey. I am considering doing an audio version for this, so will look into it if that's what people would benefit from/like to hear it, so let me know! All feedback is welcome! New chapters should be uploaded weekly. Thank you for taking your time to read my story.
It was a bitter cold winter's day; the rain was slowly dripping down the window of the café that Charlotte was sitting in. How did Charlotte, of all people, managed to be convinced to go on this blind date. She was too easily persuaded, maybe she did need to grow a backbone like everyone kept suggesting. Her hand was so tightly gripped around the coffee cup that she was holding that her knuckles had turned white as she snuggled into the booth of the plush leather seats, trying to at least get some warmth in her otherwise cold bones. Next time she was convinced to do this, it would be in a summer month, that's if she could be convinced to do this again.
It has been a few months since Charlotte's divorce, however three years of toying with the idea of leaving her ex-husband. The main priority was the children in all of this, and what was best for them, and that's why she held onto it for so long. That and the shame of breaking up a picture-perfect family, however it just ended up that she was holding onto the cracks of an already crumbling building. Letting go of the relationship was the first step, navigating the shared custody and the amicable split was the second, this third step of moving on and finding someone new however was what Charlotte had found to be the hardest.
Charlotte had never been the first one to make moves in a relationship, however the choice had been taken out of her hands by her nursery manager Marjorie, who had swiped her phone one day before setting up this blind date with a "friend of a friend". Marjorie didn't seem to be convinced of this new person, however trusted her friend's judgement in picking out potential suitors for her dearest colleague. Which was made all the easier when Charlotte had confided in Marjorie one late night over a bottle of wine that she didn't care if the person was male, female or someone that didn't conform, if she was into someone she was into them, and that was the end of the story much to Marjorie's disdain as she tried to put the puzzle pieces together in her head before being ushered by Reece, Marjorie's boyfriend and manager of the sister nursery, to stop overthinking this and just let Charlotte be happy in whatever company she wanted to keep.
Charlotte looked at the clock, it was nearly noon the time that was set for her and her blind date to meet, she had got there earlier due to the fact of being nervous and didn't want to look a fool in front of this blind date as she fumbled around looking for them in a such a cosy and intense space. Who was Charlotte even trying to kid, she was going to fumble one way or another and completely ruin this and be in the same position again six months from now awaiting another potential suitor, that's if she could be convinced of doing all of this again. Part of her wondered if it was even worth the stress of building up a lasting relationship for it to just crumble in her hands again. The other part of her, the more positive side convinced if she repeated over and over in her head that this was going to lead to something, that this would be the last time she would have to do this, that she was going to be happy again, that all those things she wanted to happen would eventually manifest themselves.
Charlotte's attention scanned the room again, checking that it wasn't anyone who had already been sat down who she was meant to be meeting, her gaze then switched to focusing on the door as the clock ticked down to the last minute before noon. Charlotte's breath started to become increasingly more erratic as her heart pounded in her ears. Why was she nervous? It wasn't like anything was going to come of it. Just as she was about to stand from the comfort of the seat, convincing herself to run with her tail between her legs and lie to Marjorie that she had been stood up. That's when a tall, elegant, red-headed woman walked through the door. Anyone would have thought it was some high-end restaurant that the red head had just stepped into with what she was wearing; a sharp-looking, and well-fitted black pantsuit which was complimented by a white crisp shirt, and the shiniest black shoes that Charlotte had ever seen.
Charlotte couldn't prevent her mouth from being agape as she watched the red head go over to the counter and order something, which seemed to have caused a bit of a commotion, perhaps the server only a boy of seventeen must have got the order wrong because by the look on his face and how much he was fumbling at the counter, he looked like he had seen a ghost with how pale he was, or maybe it was because he had seen what Charlotte could describe as an angel standing in front of him. The manager seemed to immediately rush to the boy's side to try and de-escalate the situation until he saw who the boy was dealing with, and his reaction was much the same as the boys. Whatever had happened, it was very quickly made right as a cup was quickly placed into the red head's hand. The red head then turned to scan the room leaving the boy and the man with faces still in shock, before laying her eyes directly on Charlotte whose mouth still agape, she quickly shut it however the redhead had seen this, and a small smile spread across her lips. The few seconds that it took the redhead to walk towards Charlotte felt like an eternity and seemed to go in slow motion, and she now started to scan the redheads features her blue eyes seemed to pierce into hers, and she just couldn't get the look of her smile that she was giving her out of her head. The various rings, watch and necklace seem to have been maliciously planned to compliment the red head's outfit. The words to describe her were not coming to Charlottes mind, the only thing she thought was: "Perfect".
Before she knew it, the red head was now stood by the table patiently waiting for Charlotte to come out of her haze, she seemed to be doing her own investigation of Charlotte as her eyes scanned up and down the brown-haired women's body. Charlotte felt a growing lump in her throat was starting to form, her face seemed to have got about 10°C hotter. The once cold atmosphere that has surrounded her had now become nearly unbearably hot, the need to hang onto the coffee cup had long gone out the window as it just felt like every time, she even remotely touched it was comparable to touching a hot stove. The wish for it to be summer was no longer on her brain, it was just clouded with the vision of the red head in front of her.
After what seemed to be an hour of intense staring between the two, the red head finally spoke. "Hello sweetheart, I'm Mia" a smirk firmly plastered on her face.
