RAY says, poking his head through the library door, catching the blue haired girl off guard. had it really been that obvious? she just wanted to finish the list of books tatiana gave her

sayaka puffs out her cheeks slightly, "i want to finish reading these books" ray raises an eyebrow at her comment, what books could she be talking about? she was only holding on book in her hand... unless?

she raised her hand, pointing two large stacks of books in a corner, smiling slyly when seeing rays shocked expression. "what are you trying to do? read the entire library?" he questions, slightly distraught

sayaka bit her tongue, should she tell ray about the list tatiana left for her to read? she didn't want to make it seem like she didn't trust ray, but she didn't know if her list was meant to be shared with anyone

"well.. before big sis left, she told me about her favorite authors and her favorite books.. i wanna read all of them so that i can feel closer to her, even know though she's gone" sayaka spoke out

that wasn't a complete lie, a lot of these consisted of tatiana's favorite books and authors, plus it would be more believable because she's been missing tatiana. sayaka wouldn't admit it but she was envious that tatiana was adopted before her

rays expression softened, "what book are you reading right now?" he plopped himself beside her, peaking over at the words. sayaka smiled, "it's called 'Success in the Wild'" giving the book to ray for him to read

ray furrowed his brows, why would tatiana recommend this book to sayaka? covering his expression up he replied, "this says a lot of different herbs for medication, we don't need that if we have mama"

sayaka shrugged her shoulders, "I'm not going to be the one to question what books she liked to read, plus it's actually really interesting! there are so many useful things in here!"

she blabbed on to the boy beside her, "like did you know, that to see how someone really feels about something, you can see how their eye crinkles? see i bet you didn't know that"

ray rolled his eyes, "whatever you say- oh wait what's this?" he points to a small scrap of paper in the book, seemingly torn from notes. sayaka raised her brow before picking the paper scrap up and putting it in her shirt pocket

"i don't know, i've seen a couple of them in the other books. i've just been putting them in my pocket so that they don't bother whoever reads the books after me" sayaka replied, finding yet another scrap on the next page

ray was about to say something else, but the library doors suddenly burst out open, revealing a very energetic emma and an out of breath norman

"hey guys!!" emma yelled in the library, startling sayaka and ray. emma ran up to them and quickly jumped onto sayaka giving her a big hug, receiving a small smile from the blue haired girl

ray had an irk mark on his face, annoyed that emma had just randomly barged in, "what are you doing idiot? can't you see we're busy?" only to receive emma sticking out her tongue

norman smiled as he watched the scene, walking up to the trio, "we sent ray to check up on you since we wanted to play, but he ended up never coming back" norman said teasingly, earning a scowl from ray

"we got distracted talking about the books i've been reading!" sayaka replied, holding up the book she's been reading so they could see. norman looked intrigued, however emma looked a little bored

"you really wanna spend all day reading? can't you spare a little bit of time to play with us?" emma looked at sayaka with puppy eyes, earning a raised brow from the others

norman chimed in, "yeah, i like that you've been reading but we do miss hanging out with you" a slightly embarrassed expression on his face. earning a more sincere smile from sayaka. if norman even wanted to hangout, how could she possibly say no?

"alright.." sayaka said after the two expressed their loneliness, placing a bookmark in the current page she was on, "let's go play, who's up for some tag??" she asked, earning a squeal from emma who immediately dragged her out of the library to play

norman spoke out with a slightly chuckle, "emma is always so quick to drag others around with her" ray shrugged his shoulders, his eyes not leaving the spot where sayaka once sat next to him

skimming the titles of the books in the corner, 'how to read people' 'tricks on how to cook with limited materials' 'basic self defense that everyone should know'

why did tatiana give sayaka survival books, and if it was because she knew about the secret, why didn't mama get rid of her?

"ray?" norman spoke out of concern, holding the library door open for him so they could catch up with the two girls. ray turned his attention to norman, how long was he standing there?

"coming" ray mumbled, walking out the door, a perplexed expression still lingering on his face at his previous thoughts about his older sister

SAYAKA placed the headphones off her head as she finished the test, anxious for the test scores of the day. she remembered the words of her older sister in her letter

'try and get a perfect score on the tests!' those words lingered in her head as she watched mama walk up to the children in front of her, holding a paper in her hand

norman, who was sitting next to her, patted her back softly, "you think this is the day i get a perfect score?" he asked with a sly smile, only to get a raised brow in response

"you and ray have gotten perfect scores for the past three months, you don't have to rub it in" sayaka slightly rolled her eyes, only to get a chuckle in return

norman opened his mouth once more, but mama seemed to be faster. "okay everyone..." she says, skimming the paper lightly, her eyes widening upon one specific name in particular

"norman, ray, samuel and sayaka! perfect scores, congratulations you four!" sayaka widened her eyes, looking at norman beside her who looked surprised with a smirk

"look who's got a perfect scoree" sayaka nudged norman who shrugged his shoulders, "I still got one before you" sayaka deflated slightly at that but didn't take it personally

emma ran over to them, dragging a ray with her who looked irritated to say the least, "how come you three her perfect scores but i don't?" emma said, whining slightly to her friends

sayaka smiled and patted her back, "we can study for them together if you'd like but you have to actually try and focus!" earning a quick nod from emma

ray slapped emma's back lightly, "you can't expect a perfect score if you don't try idiot" emma looked back at him bewildered before scolding him

ray ignores emma's words as he stared at sayaka chatting away with norman. it's true, you can't get a perfect score without trying

he squinted his eyes at her figure, why was she trying then?
