Chapter 4 ☮︎︎ ℕ𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣 𝕊𝕒𝕪 ℕ𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣Cape Coral, New Hampshire
Summer 1995Why had I lied? He definitely knew it was me? Now he would probably go back just to see if it was me. Cause that was how Joey was. If something bothered him and he wanted to know why he would find out!
He used to be worse than a damn Hardy Boy or Nancy Drew at times. Maybe I could get a new job in town then switch before he could find me again. But if he knew I was in town he knew this place.
I groaned. I should have just said yeah I know ya. It's me. And left things at that. Show him I don't care if he was in town. Now it's a big damn deal thanks to my lying big mouth.
Suddenly the doorbell rings. My heart leaps in my throat. We were not expecting anyone to stop by here. I glance out the window by the kitchen you could see the front door by there.
It was a delivery guy at the door. I sighed.

"Mandy?! Did you order something? A guy is at the door with a package!" I holler at my friend.
"Yes! My new book is here! I will get it!" She yells back. She rushes to answer the door.
She nearly startled my heart there. I just wasn't ready to confront Joey. Yet. Maybe never.
"What book did you get?" I ask her.
"A book about JFK Jr. That plane crash if it was really an accident. I'm into conspiracy theories type books. I needed something new to read on the beach" rambles on Mandy with happiness.
"You do know we have a perfectly good library in this town. You can save money then check out free books" I tease.
"I know. I already read all your Sweet Valley high books you had still in your old room" she teases me.
I blush. "Hey, everyone loved them way back"
"I know, I did to as well as the college years. Nothing wrong with that" she says as she winks at me.
"Book worm" I joke with her.
Suddenly the door bell rings again. Our eyes grow wider.
"Another book?" I demanded to know from her. She shakes her head no.
"This was the only one Erynn" she promised me.
