Chapter 2 ☮︎︎ ℕ𝕖𝕨 𝕆𝕡𝕡𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕦𝕟𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕖𝕤
Summer 1995I still had yet to hear back from anyone about a job, and I applied nearly every place in town! Even Walmart!! But things took time I guess. I did plan on living here! I always wanted this house!
Dad left it to me! It was mine! It was paid off but I still would have to pay property taxes on it. I never ended up seeing who arrived over next door there either. They seemed to come and go late in the night.
Maybe they slept all day long. Wasn't that something a rock star might do? I had to brush the thought aside. It could be Joey's parents were here to. And they suffered from jet lag maybe.
Anything but Joey being here!
I just could not allow my brain to wander into the land of what if's. It would not be good for my state of mind. Plus I'd have to get a hold of my therapist. If that were the case.
I tried to keep my mind off my past. Though it was hard being in a place with the ghosts of my past haunting me here. I glance in the hall closet. We used to keep old board games as well as blankets and towels in there.
I took a peek. Sure enough. Dad kept all my old board games. From "Monopoly" "Ants In The Pants", "Don't Wake Daddy!" "Operation!" "Mouse Trap!" "Win, Lose. Or Draw!" to so much more!
I laugh. I loved "Girl Talk" and dad would play that with me. Joey hated the girlie games but dad could always get him to play it with me. I grab "Monopoly" from the closet. We used to fight over the Top Hat.
I'd end up being the dog. At times I caught Joey stealing the Top Hat for next time. Just so he could be that. He was good at that game. I glance in the pieces. He had taken the Top Hat, last we played. I laughed so hard I brushed a tear back from my eye.
"Ugh....Joey" I grumble as I shake my head.
I missed my dad so much. If I closed my eyes I could still hear the laughter here. Joey to. I sigh. I close up the box after I opened my eyes again. I see, Mandy was done running on the beach for the day.

"It is gonna be a hot one day girl" she warns me. "Don't worry I took my shoes off at the door. So I didn't track the sand in" she informed me.
She noticed the board games.
"Monopoly! I used to love that game to! Maybe one night we can get drunk and play! Fun fun" she laughs. She opens the box. "But your missing the top hat though! I loved the thimble. I used to sew with my gram"
