one year later

"Well, um, all my shit is packed and you can get rid of anything I've missed." Joe said "I don't think there's anything else to deal with, and here are the house keys." He continued, placing the two keys onto the table

"Uh, thanks." Taylor said, picking the keys up and closing her hand around the cold metal.

"Well then, goodbye." Joe gave an awkward small wave, before pulling up the luggage handles and opening the door and shutting it

Taylor followed after him from behind and clicked the lock shut "It's just us now, baby girl." She said, tears brimming in her eyes

over the next few days...

Joe frowned "Are you leaving... or what? I don't want to close the door on you, but you don't seem to be on your way."

"Uh..." Taylor took a deep breath "Actually, I was hoping to talk to you."

"Oh?" Joe said "Come in. I'm expecting someone at half past though, hope you don't mind."

Taylor tapped her phone screen and it lit up, showing the current time. 4:12. She had an ample amount of time. She followed Joe into the house, glacier around at his decor and the photos he had hung up, Of course she wasn't in any of them.

"So, what's up?" Joe asked, a lame attempt at small talk. Even in dates, they never made small talk before. He would entice her with an embarrassingly weird pick up line, then she would laugh, and their conversation would just flow. But now, it seemed like they had nothing in common anymore. Except for their daughter

"I wanted to talk to you about Sabrina." Taylor said "She's not adjusting well to the environment every time we move her around, and now she's becoming antsy and unsettled in familiar places."

Joe furrows his eyebrows, recollecting Sabrina's recent behavior "Yeah, now that I think of it, it's really obvious."

"What do we do about it, then?" Taylor asked "The system's only working for us, and clearly we can't throw her back and forth like that anymore."

"I don't know." Joe said, running his hand through Sabrina's hair

"Do you think we should... you know." Taylor said hesitantly, avoiding eye contact and taking a sip of her drink

"No." Joe shook his head "We will find a way, I'm not giving her up for adoption."

"I wasn't thinking of that." Taylor assured him, fidgeting nervously "Would it be a shitty idea if we lived together again for the sake of him?"

"Um," Joe wasn't sure what to say "I don't know. Honestly."

"Me neither." Taylor said "I don't think we're fit to live together or be together."

"I-." Joe looked like he was about to argue back, but he bit his tongue and held back. Just then, the doorbell rang and Joe leapt up to get it, while Taylor checked the time on her phone again. 4:26. So they were early

Before Joe opened the door, he turned back to Taylor to speak to her one last time "I'm sorry, but could you leave through the back door?" He flicked his wrist at the hallway that led to the garden gate, and Taylor obliged and headed towards it
