Without even breaking a sweat, Victor dragged Samar by his neck, to back where Meera was. Meera was scared and awaiting what seemed most certainly her death. Samar tried to stop Victor by grabbing at his legs. But he was too weak because of the aneurysm and Victor easily turned around and punched him hard in the face.
The next few seconds passed in a movie-like slow motion-
Victor bent down to grab the discarded gun from the floor. Meera was sure she was going to die, and she was looking at Samar with all the love she had. He looked up at her, fighting the pain, and he was back there, ten years ago. Watching her walk away from their driveway. That moment however was enough to send the next minute into action. Samar gathered all his strength to get up from the floor and lounge at Victor, making them both go through the nearest glass partition. Samar kept hitting and punching Victor until he was the one to push him out the back door. As anti-climactic as it was, the rain had made the pavement outside slippery. As victor was pushed out of the door, he slipped and as he was stumbling backwards, he was hit by a speeding car, instantly killing him. Samar took a moment to reel from the sudden shock.
His head was still throbbing as Samar stumbled back into the clinic. He picked a stray scalpel along the way as he made a beeline for Meera.
"Samar, are you okay?" She asked, concerned, "I don't understand what's going on."
"I know, I know. Just wait." He said, trying to pacify her as he was cutting the rope.
"Why are we here? What's going on?" She was getting impatient as he freed her and made her stand.
Samar did not answer her questions yet, he looked around the floor and picked up another gun for safety and tucked it on his waist. His clock was ticking, but he wasn't planning on dying yet.
"How did they find me? SAMAR!"
Despite her triade of questions, Meera was walking close behind him. Samar swiftly turned around and grabbed her face with his left hand, as he pulled her even closer with his right. He kissed her as passionately as he could. The decade of longing coupled with the adrenaline rush from trying to escape death, all poured into it. Meera on the other end did not hesitate on returning it with the same fervent and deepening the kiss.
After a moment too long, Samar pushed her away. And spoke with a sense of urgency while looking into her eyes.
"I will tell you everything okay? Just stay with me."
"Okay." Meera noded.
Instead of heading out in an instance, Samar started searching for something. He had difficulty in walking straight, he kept banging into things as Meera tried to support him.
"Samar, let's go what are you looking for?"
"They don't have it!"
"What?"
"A defibrillator!"
"Why do-" "Found it!"
Samar found a worn out defibrillator and prayed it would work this time.
He switched it on as as it was charging, he handed his gun and the extra magazine to Meera. Quickly explaining her how to use it."This is a Baretta 92F. It's a very accurate weapon."
Meera had no clue what to do with it, with every second she was getting even more confused.
"Don't point it at me. It has 15 rounds. When the mag is empty the slide will lock like this. To reload, push this button. The empty mag falls out and you shove in the new one, like batteries and release the slide."
Samar was having difficulty in speaking now, and for a split second he wished he hadn't forced Meera to leave, maybe he could have trained her in using all of his weapons one by one.
"Why are you giving me a gun?" She asked with a trembling voice.
"There could be others! If you have to use it, get low, point and shoot." Samar spoke as he fumbled with some live electric wires.
"What are yo-" Meera tried to interrupt, but Samar stopped her.
"I have a charge in my head, I'm going to die unless you kill me."
"What?"
"Just turn the switch on and off."
"I can't do that!"
"You can get me back. I'll come back." He said it with all sincerity as he pointed at the defibrillator.
Meera did not want to go ahead with this plan but she understood the urgency of the situation and she had done this in the past, she had saved people.
"You have to do it now! There so time!" Samar shouted as he collapsed to the ground once more. He was sitting with his back against the wall. Meera held the switch with trembling hands, she about to kill him.
"NO WAIT!" Samar screamed as Meera looked at him confused.
"I love you." He confessed, the fear of 'what if' looming in his eyes.
"I love you too." She reciprocated as she switched the electricity on and off, sending Samar into a shock and killing him.

Author's note: my favourite character tbh (I'm from a slow burning, cliffhanger loving generation, what can I say). Also, we're getting towards the end of the journey. ♥️
