Hyacinth crouched down next to Dax, her doberman, patting him on the top of his head as he dutifully surveyed their surroundings. She was grateful for him, since she had been feeling like she was being watched all day. Taking one last look around, she stood up and turned to go back to her house, but her path was blocked.
A very triumphant– and familiar– woman stood in the doorway of Hyacinth's house; the Fairy Godmother. Shit. Hyacinth turned to sprint in the other direction, but two palace guards were there. They grabbed her arms and shoved her to her knees.
"No! You can't take me. I haven't done anything to you people!" Hyacinth declared, attempting to yank her arms away from the guards, who did not let go.
"You do not belong here, Esme," the Fairy Godmother argued. She snapped her fingers, and in seconds the entire group was transported back to Auradon.
Looking around at the royal, elegant setting, Hyacinth wanted to cry, but the fury inside her overruled the tears –for the time being, at least.
"Esme Hyacinth Gothel, you are a villain and cannot be allowed to roam, as you are dangerous," the Fairy Godmother announced formally.
"Dangerous? I'm not dangerous. I have been easily minding my own business. I haven't hurt any of you. I haven't even seen you in nine years!" Hyacinth argued, trying to move but suddenly becoming aware of the cuffs on her hands as she knelt on the rug in the throne room.
"We have your file. You were recently released from probation. You went on probation due to a situation where you became violent and attacked a customer at a restaurant," the Fairy Godmother noted, looking over Hyacinth's file. Hyacinth hung her head, her curly black hair falling in her eyes.
"Right. So I must be a monster. Dangerous," she scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Out of the goodness of his heart, the future king Ben has decided to integrate you into the Forgiveness Plan. This means that you will become one of the VK's that live in Auradon and become a part of our lovely community," Fairy Godmother informed with a hesitant smile.
"What? No. I want to go home," Hyacinth argued.
"You want to go back to the Isle?"
"The Isle is not my home, and hasn't been for years," Hyacinth seethed, yanking on the hands holding her back again.
"Esme," the Fairy Godmother said sternly. Hyacinth glared up at her.
"Don't call me that. It's Hyacinth. And what about my dog? You just left him there!"
The Fairy Godmother snapped, and instantly Dax appeared in the room, barking and lurching at people fearsomely. The Fairy Godmother placed an affronted hand over her chest, looking very nervous about the 'scary'-looking creature.
"Dax!" Hyacinth cried, managing to pull away from the guards as Dax turned to the sound of her voice, his docked tail wagging. He ran towards her excitedly, stopping directly in front of her and sitting obediently as she wrapped him up in a hug. He sniffed at her ear and licked her shoulder happily.
"Hey buddy," Hyacinth whispered, petting his head and rubbing his back. A hand was placed on her shoulder and she turned to see a guard with a leash. She took it solemnly, clipping it to Dax's leather collar and standing up as another guard took her by the shoulders.
Turning to the Fairy Godmother, Hyacinth sneered. "You think you're so good, don't you? You think you're protecting people, but protecting people from a nonexistent threat isn't actually being protective, it's being paranoid. You're only hurting someone else. And this? What you're doing to me? It's kidnapping."
Hyacinth relished the look of shock on the Fairy's face before turning away and following after the guards with Dax in tow.
She had surveyed her bedroom, but it was no use. Even if she managed to escape the palace, she couldn't get home. Nothing but the magic beans or the Fairy Godmother's wand would get her back to the other dimension– she had used up the last magic bean when she was little, after escaping the Isle and wanting to go somewhere the people from Auradon would never find her, and she wasn't dumb enough to try to steal the wand. She gave up everything she knew trying to get off the Isle when she was young, and she would not get sent back for failing to steal the wand.
That night, Hyacinth laid on her luscious bed, curled up with Dax next to her, and cried until she was exhausted enough to fall asleep.
A/n: Imma be honest, I added Dax because everyone needs an emotional support baby, and I loveee dobermans. Honestly, dogs that have scary reputations are my favorite kinds of dogs because, if they're raised right, they're so cuddly! But also they could scare intruders. Win-win. Anyway, I hope the first chapter went well --Ez <3
