I wrote this a couple years ago so there might be a few mistakes but i'm not bothered to fix them lol
CLANG!
My shovel dug deeper into the ground, I had to keep on digging. Suddenly, a hint of a bottle peeked out from the dirt I grabbed my gloves and carefully took it out. It was the map I had been looking for, the key to the ancient treasure. I carefully took the map out of the dirty bottle and held it. The map was glinting in the dark midsummer night, there were strange squiggly signs and marks on the map, I had to find out all the secrets of the map. As I ran back to my cottage at the centre of the island, the stars shone brightly over the map and purple and yellow lines started appearing, however when I held it back into the shadows the mysterious lines would disappear, suddenly I spotted the X. Intriguing...
And that was how the hunt started.

The whole week had been hectic, people had started coming to the island after an old, ancient, royal heirloom had been confirmed to be somewhere on the island, but I was one step ahead of them. I had the precious map that had been buried outside my cottage from my ancestors. My ancestors were descended from pirates, sailors, authors, and cartographers that sailed the sea for treasure and adventure, which made them thieves and that was why my great-great-great-grandfather decided to bury our special map. As I walked down the stairs getting ready to eat someone outside called my name. "NEREZZA! Where are you!? Come out, someone in the town square says if anyone finds the treasure, he will give them a chest of money!" That was Esther my friend who was obsessed with magical stuff. I shouted back, "OKAY! I'M COMING!" And I shoved my half-eaten apple into my mouth and hurried outside as fast as a cheetah.
As I ran towards the town square, I noticed a crowd of people crowding around the platform that was normally used for announcements. "People, people calm down! If you don't have the treasure, then please leave. Only come to me when you HAVE the treasure. No arguing!" said a suspicious looking man with a bushy ginger beard and a twinkling eye. "He looks familiar..." I mumbled as I slowly wandered away from the crowd. Finally, I saw Esther and walked over to her. "Nerezza! There you are." said Esther as she also spotted me in the crowd, "We should work together to find the treasure so then we can split the money." I thought of the idea, working in pairs would be easier than working solo, we could split up and search for it separately and plus I had the map which would make it much easier. "Uhm, sure I guess!" I said and at that moment Esther made a mischievous smirked but changed her expression in a millisecond. "So where should we start?" asked Esther. "I have something to show you, but can we meet at 4, my place so we can figure out the plan?" I whispered in case somebody heard. "Sure." Said Esther so we parted ways and left.
As I pushed through the crowd, I bumped into someone, it was Kai, the kid who just moved in next door of my house. Kai mumbled, "Oh hi, do you mind telling me what's happening here?" I nodded and explained all the drama of the treasure and this suspicious looking man offering to give anyone a whole chest of money if they found and gave him the special island heirloom treasure. "Hey, I've got a great idea!" exclaimed Kai, "Wanna' work together?" I thought for a while and said "Um, I'll consider that offer and I'll tell you later what I say!" And I ran off back to my house.

It was now 4 and I heard a knock on my door. "NEREZZA, I'M HERE!" yelled out Esther and I rushed over to open the door. "Esther!!! I have the greatest plan EVER!" I exclaimed my eyes sparkling in the light. "Mhm tell me it." grinned Esther as she entered the room. "I know how we can get the treasure faster..."
