'Babe...'

'Hmm...'

'I think we should stop right here...'

War stopped his track, eyes staring at Yin.

'Excuse me? What did you just say?'

'You heard me...'

'Well, yeah...but why?'

'I think it would be better for us...for you...'

'You're not serious are you?'

'I've been thinking all night...Pansa seems like a nice girl, your family likes her...you two kinda get along well...maybe you should just go through the engagement.' Yin looked at War and their gaze locked on each other.

'What the hell are you saying? I've talked to Pansa, we're not getting engaged...'

Flashback

'So, you don't mind being in arranged marriage?' Pansa asked as they walked away from the elders.

'Um...about that...I don't think we should get engaged...'

'May I ask why?'

'Actually, Yin is not just my best friend...he's my boyfriend.'

Two pair of eyes went towards Yin who's talking to the parents.

'For real?'

'Yeah...we've been together for 4 years...my parents known him as my best friend.'

'Oh wow...I didn't expect that...but then again, I saw the way he looked at you...'

'So I hope you could say no to engagement...I'll talk to my parents...'

End of Flashback

'We've agreed to cancel the engagement and tell the parents tomorrow over lunch...' War sat next to Yin, holding his hand.

'You don't have to do that...'

'So you want me to get engaged to a girl? Seriously?'

'What else you want me to do? You don't know what your mother told me when the two of you talked together...she was so happy that you're finally gonna get a family, a wife that could give her grandchildren...' Yin's voice quivered.

'You want us to break up because of that?'

'What else can we do War? Obviously being with me you won't get those things...'

'You know what...just fuck it...'

War got up, held Yin by the wrist and dragged him outside, heading downstairs where his parents were.

'Mae, Por...I have something to say...' War said.

'Aw? I thought you two are asleep...' Ana said, looking at the two.

'I need to tell you something...'

'What is it son?' Beng stared at War.

'Yin and I are dating and I won't get engaged to Pansa...'

Ana and Beng looked at each other.

'Come again?' Ana frowned.

'I've been dating Yin for the last 4 years...we love each other and I don't think I can love anyone else but him.'

War's dad slowly got up and silently walked away, leaving the three of them in the living room.

'Mae...' War sat next to his mother, holding the old woman's arm. There's unknown expression on that older woman that War never seen before.

'I don't know what to say son...you really...' She sighed.

'I'm sorry Mae...sorry that I kept this hidden...' War's grip on his mother's hand tightened.

His father came back and hand his mother a bank card.

'As promised...damn it!'

'See? I told you he would tell us before the engagement...' Ana smiled, fanning herself with the small card.

War and Yin looked at each other.

'Ok, what's exactly going on here?' War stared at his parents.

'Your mom and I had a bet when you'll come out to us...and you just made me lost 10k.' Beng glared at his son. *There goes my money...*

'What?' War frowned. He still can't believe what just happened.

'We kinda had a vague idea about you being gay...we may not agree with it at first but over time me and your dad learn to accept it...you're our son, whoever you chose to love is not for us to judge...' Ana patted War's arm.

Ana got up and walked towards Yin.

'About what I said at dinner...I don't mean any of it...I'm just glad that War found someone great that love him as much as we do...and that's enough for us...' She hugged him. 'Take care of my son okay?'

Yin felt a huge boulder got lifted off from his shoulder when War's mom hugged him tightly.

'Can someone explain this to me?' War looking at his parents alternately.

'We already know about you and Yin...we're just waiting for you to tell us for a while now but nothing...so we decided to do this instead...and voila! You told us...finally!' Beng patted War's shoulder.

'Por...Mae...' War said in disbelief.

'I'm sorry son...it's the only way...' Ana smiled. 'And one more thing...Pansa's family knew...'

'Seriously?' War's eyes widened in disbelief.

'Yup...Pansa actually have a girlfriend back in Bangkok...'

'So there's no engagement?' War asked.

'The engagement is still on...'

'Huh?' Yin and War said in unison.

'You two are getting engaged...Yin, your parents and family gonna be here tomorrow...we've been talking to them and they've agreed.'

'Khun Mae...'

'Just Mae from now on son...' Ana hugged Yin again.

'Family hug...' Beng said, pulling War towards Ana and Yin.

The four of them gathered for a group hug. As War and Yin gaze met each other, only silent 'I love you' were exchanged between them.
