Chapter thirteen

Jake has a strong feeling he's wrong and just overreacting. He knows one person who can help.

He knocked on the door of dorm 105 to no response. He could hear someone saying 'oh mommy!' on the other side. He slowly pushed open the door. Roberto moved to a different dorm since he can't sleep on the ground floor, so that leaves only one occupant.

Chang.

Jake's eyes scanned the shelves on the walls, half naked anime girls, maid cafe pictures and right by the desk sat Chang. Eating carbonara buldak, saying 'oh mommy' whilst watching 'top 10 best anime recoil physics' Jake cleared his throat.

Chang turned around and quickly paused his video, slurping up his noodles.

Jake shuffled awkwardly. "Hi, uhm, you and Leo are good friends, right?"

Chang put down his noodles. "Ya why U ask???"

"Well, do you have any idea where he is? He hasn't replied and-"

Chang clapped his hands together. "You funny! My baby- Leo lost his phone. He said he be back on the third day."

Jake felt as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Of course he'd been over thinking- Leo will be safe. "Thanks."

And with that Jake ran back to his dorm, and fell asleep hugging his Leo body pillow.

Jake doesn't exactly remember what happened on Wednesday morning. Well, Leo came back. Jake remembers scolding Leo for making him so worried and they kissed and hugged a lot. The colour in Jake's life started coming back. He was as happy as ever.

Over the next week Jake and Leo spent a lot of time together, going to the ice cream parlour, beach behind school, exploring the woods and nicking from B&M.

But still, Jake felt as if a pair of cold brown eyes bore into his back. He just couldn't figure out whose.

Anyways, Jake liked it a lot. He and Leo had so much fun with their friends, fishing, and tennis tricks from Gabe who came down from London to visit.

Of course, happy things never last for Jake.

May 7th Tuesday

Jake and Leo are sitting at the back of class in maths. Jake's doodling Brawl Stars characters whilst Leo's solving further maths equations.

Jake showed Leo his drawing of Buzz. "Do you like it?"

Leo smiled at it. "You've made him very cute." Suddenly his phone pinged and he checked.

Jake watched as Leo's expression turned stone cold. "What's wrong?"

Leo looked up and stared him dead in the eye, "My grandpa's in the hospital. I have to go back."

"I- okay.." Jake let that sink in, Leo leaving him yet again. "Tell Mr Finally."

And so Leo did. Mr Finally wished him luck and Leo left a kiss on Jake's hand. "I'll see you soon, my knight."

The colour drained from Jake's life, once again.

But this time he knows to not over think.

And that, might just cost his life.
