This Fic is Not Dead

Welp, it's been more than 3 months since I last updated this story. And I anticipated not updating this story for a little while, but I wasn't expecting the hiatus to be this long.

I don't really have a valid excuse. I've been away from home for most of the time, and in the time I've had to update this fic, I've been uninterested in continuing it. In fact, I almost discontinued this fic when I came home in July, I told myself that it wasn't worth it to put effort in this story.

I think what changed is that I came back and re-read this story about a few weeks ago, I realized that a part of me still loves writing this story, and that writing as a whole is a big passion of mine as well that I want to continue pursuing. And when/if this story comes to a conclusion, I want to continue writing as a whole. I've already got plans for other stories that I hope to work on soon.

The biggest reason this story didn't get updated often and didn't have a consistent schedule was because I rarely had the time to write. High school was tough for me (my freshman year happened in 2020, guess what happened back then!) and I always had homework or after-school activities to worry about before relaxing, and writing was rarely the first thing on my mind.

But now, I've finally started university. And I have a fairly lenient schedule, especially for the first few months. So, after some more re-reading and thinking, I will start updating this story again soon. 

Here's the caveat, I don't really know when the next part comes out.

On one hand, a part of me wants to rewrite this story, while I enjoyed re-reading this, it's clear that my writing was, and still is, rough. Which makes sense, this story was my first major writing project outside of high school essays, so I don't have the best experience with writing, especially narrative projects. I'd take the time to revise this story not only for better writing, but there are some aspects of the story that I wish I implemented back then that I ended up not doing.

On the other, if I re-write the story, it could end up ruining the flow of the story and then it would take more time for me to update the story and then everything else would be pushed back. So I could just bite the bullet and continue the story where I left off, flaws, roughness, and all.

If I re-write, you could expect the next part to come in late October or even early November. If I don't, then I'd still need a little time to storyboard the future of this fic (fun fact, I didn't plan much when I started this story, I improvised most of the story as it came along instead of sitting down and planning it out). But you could expect this fic to be updated in the first week of October.

I know this isn't a popular fic, this started out as a little passion project of mine last year. And while that passion faded back then, I've found myself realizing that passion back, I'm writing because I want to. So for the few that have made it this far, thank you for tagging along.

Also, if you started this fic when it came out, you might have noticed that the (Harem x Reader) part of the story was dropped a while back. That's because back then, I was planning on making it a harem book that would take it's time to delve into the individual relationships between each person (and also because harem fics tend to be more popular), now I've decided to scale that back. While it is possible in my next few days of storyboarding that there would be multiple romantic partners, I would only limit it to 2 or 3 so that I could spend time developing each relationship. And yes, there will be at least one romance, this was partly a romance book in the first place. So it's still up in the air if there are multiple relationships in this fic, but I won't advertise this story as a harem fic unless I've decided to make it one, (just in the tags, I won't include it in the title)
