"Christ almighty, that woman is a piece of work."

Yunjin holds up a finger as Sakura unloads a teetering pile of notes and files onto her desk with a grunt. She presses the phone closer to her ear and rolls her eyes at the voice coming through the speaker.

"Yes, ma'am. I'm well aware what time it is... I know. As you can see from my phoning you from my place of employment, I am also here quite late. That's why, again, all I am asking you to do is take down my information for your boss to see first thing in the morning. Please read it back to me."

Brown eyes twinkle with mirth as Sakura watches Yunjin cock two fingers to her temple and mime pulling a trigger, reciting her information for the third time in the phone call despite already setting herself a reminder in her computer to call again tomorrow.

The office is deserted at such a late hour, Yunjin having stayed behind at Sihyuk's request to at least touch base with every single contact he'd sent her throughout the day. Her throat is raw from endless talking and her eyes feel the burn of her computer screen, the dimmed overhead lights granting her burgeoning headache only so much of a reprieve.

With a clipped goodbye and an insincere wish for a good evening, Yunjin hangs up the phone and deflates back in her seat.

"Some people really shouldn't be allowed to operate telephones as a profession."

"Lovely day in the pit?"

"Talking to every egocentric moving part of the judicial system and trying to get them to rearrange their entire winter calendar? Mmm, better than a kick to the face."

"Well, if it helps, having to sit three feet away from two of the smarmiest people I've ever met in my life felt like an actual kick to the face," Sakura says as she finishes up replacing all of her work things into their correct spots.

"Chaewon and Sihyuk, or..."

"Ha, ha," Sakura drawls as Yunjin signs off her computer and joins her in gathering up their jackets and bags. "No. I'm talking about that Cruella and her boy toy. Say what you will, but that woman today? Our new client? Literally a piece of shit."

"Woah, what happened?"

Sakura shakes her head as they start making their way across the darkened office toward the elevator. "Honestly, I don't even know why we took this case on. It's unreal, Yunnie."

"Just tell me."

"Alright, calm down. So, you've heard of that Chun Jung foundation, right? The charity thing for kids with disabilities and cancer and all of that?"

"Yeah," Yunjin nods as she clicks off another bank of lights as they go.

"Well, this bitch-"

"Yunjin, may I see you in my office for a moment?"

She stumbles to a halt as her knees lock up at the sound of the voice that drifts across the darkened office floor.

Reality crashes back down around her with the elegant lilt of the request. So caught up in the mania of the day, all thoughts of the potential fallout from her snooping had completely slipped to the back of her mind.

She hadn't even noticed the faint gleam of light that filtered from the office door sitting slightly ajar.

"Ooo, boss wants an ' after hours meeting'," Sakura jokes quietly as she nudges Yunjin lightly with her elbow. "See, I told you you weren't getting fired. They were just tense about the meeting."

"Yeah, you were right. Whatever. You have to come with me," Yunjin pleads in a rushed, harsh whisper.

"Dude, chill, it's probably just about the case. Sihyuk probably forgot to send over a note or something."
