*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Dreams and nightmares can often mix together, or be two separate things. When someone thinks about a dream, the first thought is typically something good, funny, weird, or familiar. On the contrary, when someone mentions a nightmare; you instantly think of something misfortunate, scary, memorable, etc. However, there are some nights where you can't tell the difference, and it seems that one dream deserves both of the titles.

Every year, around the same time, Akanai has this reoccurring dream. This dream began after she turned ten years old, and coincidentally, shortly after she was transferred into the middle grade school. The dream begins where Akanai sees herself in a third-person point of view. She sees herself in a long, bright hallway, and despite having this dream multiple times; she can never resist the urge to walk through the hall. As Akanai sees herself continue to walk along, the walls get closer and closer together, to the point she has to put her back against the wall, and shimmy forward.
At the end of this hall there is this pedestal, and surrounding that pedestal, is a ring of fire. The flames always seem to draw Akanai in, the comforting warmth and dance the flames show off, just seems to be irresistible. As she watches herself get closer to the pedestal, the flames seem to open up and give her a path to the pedestal. However, as soon as she steps past the ring of fire, she is instantly met with what seems like hundreds of voices; all shouting at her in an inaudible manner. The shouting becomes so loud to the point she fall to her knees clutching onto her ears, and closing her eyes tightly. Then once it feels as if her ears would burst, it becomes dead silent. Then, as if mimicking the flames of the fire, two glowing orbs appear in front of her. Glowing a deep crimson, which oddly enough would give her comfort, and make her yearn for it. She wasn't sure what exactly she was yearning for, or why she had this strong desire to figure out what these glowing orbs were.
However, that feeling of need only seems to grow stronger by the second. Suddenly more pairs of crimson, glowing orbs appeared around the comforting pair, only, all these other pairs were far dimmer than the center one. These orbs continue to form all around her, until the whole room is glowing almost a deep pink color, with that single crimson pair floating in the center. Then all at once, the bright, crimson orbs disappeared, leaving only the dim ones there; and the ground beneath her crumbled, sending her falling into a black abyss.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Akanai awoke in a cold sweat, blood pumping, and arms trembling. She looked around her dingy, middle grade dorm in a panic, and relaxed slightly when she realized it was only a dream. Akanai exhaled and grabbed onto her half empty water glass from the previous night, and chugged it down. "I just don't understand why I'm always haunted with this dream." She says to herself as she moves her blankets off of her.
Akanai rubbed her eyes and slowly got up, the morning light passing through her dusty window shades. She glanced at her calendar and crossed off the previous day. 'Today I finally move out of this crappy middle grade, and into the big high grade.' She thinks with a subtle smile and glances at the few bags she has packed. She looks at the small alarm clock that resides on her nightstand. "Perfect timing it's 8:00, and Cain comes at 8:30." She says as she heads into her bathroom to wash her face, use the toilet, and do other sanitary things.
She walks out 20 minutes later all dressed and has the remainder of her bathroom items packed. She placed the small bag of her bathroom appliances in a large suitcase. As if on cue she hears a knock on her door. "It's time to go Akanai, don't keep them waiting." The voice says on the other side of the door as Akanai goes to open it. She opens the door and is met by a familiar face. "Don't worry, I'm ready to leave this heap of junk." She says as she reaches for her baggage and settles it comfortably on her back and in her arms.
