A Rock and a Cherry Bomb

The next school day, a majority of the hockey team was absent. Most were at home nursing minor sprains, scrapes, and bruises, while the rest limped around the halls, still furious that their game had been ruined. After everyone had safely exited the rink last night, a few parents and teachers carefully inspected the scene. They found little evidence except for severe weak spots in the ice, which was brittle enough to crack with a light touch. Some parents blamed the custodians for not properly laying the ice or the building owner for failing to maintain a consistent 25-degree temperature. No one knew how the ice had betrayed them—no one except Lux.

Lux hadn't mentioned Jinx's stunt to anyone. Initially, she was going blab to the Vice Principal who sat a few seats away from her, but the more she thought about it, she ultimately decided to keep it to herself. It was clear that her little "prank" was personal.

Out of all the places to strike, she chose the one event where she knew Garren and herself would be. There were millions of other places for Jinx to lounge and cause havoc, but the hockey game? Really? What pissed her off the most—aside from the obvious—was the fact that they dressed up for it. The only time they showed school spirit was to mock them? God she hated them.

As she thought about the situation a bit more, she decided that she would confront Jinx herself; didn't want anyone else to interfere. Jinx seriously hurt her family member and Lux knew damn well that no one was going to do anything about it. When it came to sticking up to the blue hair menace, she wasn't afraid. Jinx didn't scare her like she did the rest of her peers. She was going to find a way to get some sort of revenge or blackmail—make her pay for what she did.

The last period bell rang. Lux already packed, jumped to her feet and beelined for Jinx.

"Hey." Lux said sharply, trailing Jinx who was a few steps out the door.

Jinx rolled her eyes, annoyed at the owner of the voice. She kept walking, shoving her free hand in her pocket as she tried to ignore the blonde.

"Hello?!" Lux said again, her patience thin. Lux walked a bit faster, her legs struggling to keep up with the long legged rebel. Jinx had a good 7 inches on her, standing at 5"10.

"Stop!" Lux yelled.

Jinx, right before she reached her locker, spun around and stared down at the shorter girl, her face scrunched.

"What?!" Jinx responded just as loud, gripping her backpack strap.

Lux didn't flinch, instead, her outburst fueled the frustration she had boiling within. Her brows furrowed, mouth slightly agape. The audacity.

"Oh my GOD, you're something else! What is your deal?!" Lux bellowed, their peers around them slowed their pace to observe the yelling match between the two. Lux shot the bystanders with a nasty scowl, causing them to flee. Jinx's scowl faded into a mischievous smirked and leaned against her locker coolly.

"My deal? What do ya mean?"

She wanted to wipe that stupid look off her face. Lux's cheeks turned a deep shade of pink, baring her perfect pearly whites.

"You think you're hot shit, don't you?" Lux barked, staring up at the tall punk.

Jinx raised her eyebrows with surprise. Lux just swore. She never swears. This added to Jinx's amusement, her cocky smile growing wider.

"I like to think so." Jinx replied, turning around to fiddle with her locker's padlock. "Hot shit sounds kinda nasty though. I'd prefer hot, good smelling person instead."

Lux stared at her in disbelief, her body trembled as she watched as Jinx lazily opened her locker, sliding her backpack off to the floor. Without even thinking, Lux stepped next to the right of Jinx and forcefully slammed it shut, the gust from the door blowing Jinx's bangs to the side. The bluenette blinked a few times, taken back by the loud clang. Her eyes shifted to the right, stunned by the tomato faced girl.
