"Wah yaa do fi yuh birthday girl? Memba seh yah go legal now eno." Gabby exclaimed from beside me as we walk down St.James Street and into parade.
Her and I have been walking around town for the past hour after leaving Henderson's Book Store where we both coincidentally met.
Gabby was never really my friend, she was more of an associate. I am friends with Brianna and she's Brianna's best friend, so naturally we met and the 3 of us became somewhat closer.
"Girl right now mi nuh know if me even wah do nothing, all i wanna do is be laid up with my man." i joke and she raises an eyebrow at me before we both burst out laughing.
We both know me cya "laid up" wid no man nuh weh.
Cause mi nave none.
As we attempt to cross the road, a taxi man begins calling from across the street. Holding out his hand to stop the oncoming traffic.
"Clock sexiness?" he prowls and i make up my face in distaste before shaking my head no.
"We can go ina high queen? Mi wah edge and stuff fi comb mi hair tonight." Gabby voices and that reminds me.
"Oh yea, Shanae want some too, come on." i say to her, referring to my little sister, as we cross the street again to go into the store.
After making it inside, I take out my phone to call my sister. The call immediately goes to voicemail and I roll my eyes in annoyance.
This likkle pickney phone live pon dnd.
I call again and the phone starts to ring. After the second ring, she picks up and I hear some movement before she finally answers.
"Hello?" she murmurs and I respond as I walk further into the store to the aisle with the fashion wax.
"Which number yuh use again?" I ask and she takes awhile to respond, seeming as if i had woken her out of her sleep.
"My girl, after 2 ina di evening and yaa sleep? Get up and tell me wah fi buy before mi change mi mind." i hiss and so does she.
Shanae is 16 years old, we're half sisters but we both live with our mother and have since birth. We used to argue all the time, mostly because she was young and annoying and would always inform on me to our mother whenever she thought i was doing something wrong but as we grew older our bond became stronger.
