IN THE DIMLY LIT CORRIDORS of the Dragonstone Castle, where secrets were as common as the flickering torches, Daera Targaryen moved like a wraith. The illegitimate daughter of Daemon Targaryen, she had inherited her father's striking violet eyes, marks of the dragon's blood that flowed through her veins, but has her mother's golden hair.

Because of her illegitimacy, Baela and Rhaena didn't really like Daera due to her being the daughter of another woman and not their mother. This created a rift between the sisters, as Baela and Rhaena felt that Daera's presence was a constant reminder of their father's infidelity.

Daera was making her way to Daemon and Rhaenyra's chamber, the heels of her shoes clacking against the floor with each step she took. She could already start to hear their voices from down the hall as she drew closer, her father's voice not sounding too happy. She approached the big door, grabbing on to the handle and pulling the door open.

Rhaenyra and Daemon's voices came to a complete stop when she stepped in, both their eyes turning on her. Daera walked up to the two, bowing her head respectfully.

"You needed to speak with me?" Daera said, looking in between her father and stepmother.

Rhaenyra nodded, looking over at Daemon whose face was showing a bit of displeasure. Rhaenyra shook her head before she looked away from her husband and approached the blonde haired girl. She took a moment to study her, before she begun to speak.

"Your uncle has made a decision regarding your future," She started, taking one of Daera's hands into her own. Rhaenyra had to take a deep breath before she said her next words as she did not know how she would react to them. "You are to be betrothed to Alicent's eldest son, Aegon. He believes it is the best course for our family and realm."

Daera's eyes grew wide as she listened to Rhaenyra's words, so unexpected. Daera knew from the moment Rhaenyra took her hand that their was going to be news she did not like.

Daera stayed silent for a couple minutes as she tried to process the words that came out her mouth.

"I do not wish to marry him. I will burn him alive." The words coming out cold from her mouth, which earned a small snicker from Daemon who stood a few distance away.

Rhaenyra shot a deadly glare at Daemon, who quickly shut his mouth when he looked her way. Rhaenyra then looked back at Daera, her deadly glare turning into a soft one.

"I too do not wish for you to wed him, but sometimes we have to consider the stability and strength of our house. This betrothal could bring us that." Rhaenyra said, giving Daera's had a little squeeze as she tried to convince the girl to go through with it.

Daera's eyebrows furrowed at the words Rhaenyra spoke, hearing some truth in them, but yet, she did not want to be stuck in a loveless marriage, especially with an enemy.

"And what of my father? Does he approve of this?" Daera asked, her gaze shifting from Rhaenyra to her father.

Before Rhaenyra could speak, Daemon approached the two, both his hands resting on top of the handle of his sword. "You should know that I don't, Daera. I wouldn't even think of marrying you off to that cunt."

"Then why are you not going against it? You both know how Aegon is. How ruthless he is." Daera said. "We can't even have a normal conversation without one of us throwing knives at our throats."
