Chapter 7: Free The Trio

Magnet ran out of the classroom at the end of the day, wandering down to the cafeteria. That was where car riders were dismissed. He struggled slightly to keep his backpack on his armless frame, having to practically balance it on his head. 

Suddenly, his backpack was swiped from his head as he was walking. Magnet stopped and turned around, narrowing his eyes, only for them to light up when he sees who took it. It was his older friend, Doorknob.

"Oh, hi, Doorknob!!"

The younger object would grin.

"'Sup."

Doorknob nodded, holding the backpack his his hands while his own was secure on his back. Doorknob was a pretty popular fourth grader. Almost everybody knew him. Well, basically everybody. Magnet was in third grade because he was held back in kindergarten. He doesn't like to talk about it, though... the only reason he was was because of his attendance!

Magnet waited for Doorknob to start moving and he started following beside him, shoulders brushing softly. Not like Magnet even had shoulders.

"Soo.... Is BP at car riders already?"

Magnet tilted his head in question.

"Yup. She didn't wanna wait. I knew your backpack would be a struggle so..."

Doorknob responded, smiling softly. Magnet just smiled back, a new, small skip in his step.

As the two made it to the cafeteria, Broken Pastel was waiting at a table and was organizing her backpack. Magnet rushed over, grinning slightly.

"Hi, BP!! Can I help?"

Magnet was very much a neat freak.

"Oh- yeah, sure."

Broken Pastel mumbled, pushing the backpack slightly closer to Magnet- who almost immediately started sorting and putting folders and other items away. By the time three had to go, Magnet was just finished.

"Your mom's here."

Doorknob nudged Broken Pastel, who perked up.

"Oh!! Okay! Thanks for the help, Magnet."

She smiled. Magnet just nodded.

(Broken Pastel, Doorknob, and Magnet all get dropped off by Pastel's mom everyday)
