"OW!" Brian hissed in pain. "OW! OW! OW!"
I had his left arm wrapped around my shoulders as I was trying hard supporting him throughout his way from the car back to our apartment.
"Careful wifey, don't break anything. I'm already on the verge of falling apart." Brian said making an animated face. He was wounded in his legs so badly and still in this situation, he thinks he could joke around like that
"Shut up! What was the need for you to get into all of that mess?!" I glared at him once he was on the couch.
"They were talking shit about my girl, I had to beat the crap out of them." His nostrils flared
"And hurt yourself in the process?" I folded my arms against my chest and looked at him in anger.
"Uhh... I never said I wanted to win?" Brian replied cheekily, and just then somehow Irene got to know about her daddy getting back home and she came running from inside and jumped over Brian's shoulders from behind.
"DADDY!!" She planted a strong wet kiss on Brian's cheeks and dug in her face into the crook of his neck, smelling him.

"You didn't sleep yet princess?" Brian said kissing her cheeks back ruffling through her hairs and Scarlett came from inside
"She becomes too hard to handle when she doesn't find her daddy in bed. It's so hard taking care of her when you two go away." She said taking a deep worn out breath.
SCARLETT PERKINS, She is my best friend and Irene's godmother.
"Thanks a lot for taking care of Irene, Letty."
Seriously, Scarlett has been so much of a help. Otherwise, it wasn't going to be easy for me to take care of Irene alone. She is like my little sister. And I don't have any family apart from Brian, Irene and Scarlett. I mean, not till seven months from now.
"What happened to you?" Letty asked looking at my husband's swollen legs genuinely worried about him.
"Nothing much! Just a scratch." Brian said acting brave when I put a heating patch on his ankle and he screamed in pain. "OW!! DO YOU WANT TO KILL ME TONIGHT?!"
"Yeah, just the scratch." Letty mumbled chuckling.
"We were at the red light waiting for the traffic to get cleared when the drunken guys in the car adjacent to ours saw me and started to pass lewd remarks on me. My husband got angry and went down there to break some bones." I said. providing his swollen legs with much of the warmth it needed
"I see." Letty chuckled and her cell buzzed.
"I should get going, and let you have family time right now. I'll see you later this weekend" She said and walked upto Irene to kiss her cheeks.
