Governmental structure of Maratha Empire and Kingdom of Nepal

Maratha Empire:

1. Chhatrapati (Emperor):
Chhatrapati: The supreme ruler and sovereign of the empire, usually from the Bhonsle dynasty. The Chhatrapati is the head of state and had ultimate authority over the empire's affairs. The most notable Chhatrapati was Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the empire.

2. Peshwa (Prime Minister):
Peshwa: The prime minister and de facto head of government. The Peshwa was initially an advisor but later became the central figure in the administration. The Peshwa handle day-to-day administration, military operations, and diplomatic relations.

3. Ashtapradhan (Council of Ministers): A council of eight ministers who assists the Chhatrapati and the Peshwa in governance. They are elected by the voting system. The roles of some these ministers included:

Peshwa (Prime Minister):
Head of the administration.

Amatya (Finance Minister):
Finance Minister or Amatya is the head of Ministry of Finance which manage the state's finances and treasury.

Mantri (Interior Minister):
Interior Minister or Mantri is the head of Ministry of Interior which oversees internal affairs and IMPD(Imperial Maratha Police Department).

Senapati(Defence Minister or Chief Commander):
Defence Minister or Senapati is the head of Ministry of Defence and head of the military forces which is responsible for the management of Imperial Maratha Armed Forces.

Sumant (Foreign Minister):
Foreign Minister or Sumant is the head of Ministry of Foreign Affairs with is responsible for the management of foreign relations and diplomacy. Sumant is the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Justice Minister:
Justice Minister is the head of Ministry of Justice and Law which administer justice and legal matters.

There are other ministries also in the government.

4. Military Administration:
Imperial Maratha Armed Forces are the military forces of Maratha Empire. It works under Senapati (Ministry of Defence). It consists of three branches which are:

Imperial Maratha Army:
Imperial Maratha Army is the ground force of the Imperial Maratha Armed Forces.

Imperial Maratha Navy:
Imperial Maratha Navy is the maritime force of the Imperial Maratha Armed Forces.

Imperial Maratha Air Force:
Imperial Maratha Air Force is the air force of the Imperial Maratha Armed Forces.

5. Provincial Administration
Subedar (Governor): Each province or region is governed by a Subedar appointed by the central authority. Subedars have administrative, police and military responsibilities in their respective regions.

6. Judicial System:
Nyayadhish (Chief Justice): Oversaw the judicial system and ensured justice is administer according to the laws and customs of the empire.

7. Local Administration:
Mayors: Village-level officials responsible for local administration, revenue collection, and maintaining law and order.

Kingdom of Nepal:

1. Monarchy:
King (Maharajadhiraj): The absolute ruler and head of state. The King holds supreme authority over the administration, military, and judicial matters. The Shah dynasty rules Nepal during this period, starting with King Prithvi Narayan Shah, who unifies Nepal in the mid-18th century.

2. Executive Administration:
Prime Minister: The chief executive officer who assists the King in administrative affairs. The Mulkaji has considerable power and influence, often acting as the head of the government. This role varies in influence depending on the monarch's strength and preferences.

3. Council of Ministers: A council of five ministers who assists the Maharajadhiraj and the Mulkaji in governance. They are elected by the voting system. The roles of some of these ministers included:

Defence Minister:
Defence Minister is the head of Ministry of Defence which oversees the military affairs.

Finance Minister:
Finance Minister is the head of Ministry of Finance which is responsible for financial matters, including revenue collection, taxation, and overall management of the kingdom's finances.

Interior Minister:
Interior Minister is the head of Ministry of Interior which hold various administrative roles within the kingdom, such as governing civil services, maintaining law and order, and overseeing internal affairs. They also oversees the RPA(Royal Police Agency).

Foreign Minister:
Foreign Minister is the head of Ministry of Foreign Affairs which is responsible for managing foreign and diplomatic relations.

There are other ministries also in the government.

4. Military Administration: Royal Nepali Armed Forces are the military forces of Kingdom of Nepal. It works under Ministry of Defence. It consists of three branches which are:

Royal Nepali Army:
Royal Nepali Army is the ground force of the Royal Nepali Armed Forces.

Royal Nepali Navy:
Royal Nepali Navy is the maritime force of the Royal Nepali Armed Forces.

Royal Nepali Air Force:
Royal Nepali Air Force is the air force of the Royal Nepali Armed Forces.

5. Judicial System:
Chief Justice: The head of the judicial system, responsible for administering justice according to the laws and customs of the land. The Chief Justice is often a senior official appointed by the King.

Local Judges:
Handle judicial matters at the local level, dealing with civil and criminal cases within their jurisdictions.

6. Provincial and Local Administration:
Governor: Appointed by the King to govern specific regions or provinces. Subbas have administrative and military responsibilities and are crucial in maintaining central control over distant areas.

Mayors:
Mayors are the municipal executive of city and Village-level officials responsible for local administration, revenue collection, and maintaining law and order.
