The downfall of CHAOS was considered wonderful news to the world of 2144; however, our celebration was cut short by a notification from the game itself. It claimed that although CHAOS was defeated, their mutated creations still lurked deep within an abandoned military faction. Commander Mark's grim expression reflected the situation's seriousness as he addressed us in the briefing room. "Despite our victory over CHAOS, remnants of their experiments pose a significant threat," Commander Mark began, his voice tinged with urgency. "Intel suggests that these mutated beings are housed in the Forsaken Citadel. Location: The City Of Nexus Prime." The briefing room fell silent as the gravity of his words sank in. Standing at attention, I felt a familiar surge of determination. Beside me, Darquesse's eyes narrowed with resolve. Commander Mark continued, his gaze sweeping across the room. "Our mission is to infiltrate the Forsaken Citadel, locate these mutated creations, and eliminate them ASAP. This will not be an easy task. The Citadel is crawling with those freaks, and I believe you 4 know how dangerous those mutants are." Recalling the battle I had against CHAOS, I nodded to Commander Mark. "Understood. We'll keep that in mind," I replied, with a determined expression. "Good. That's all I have to say. Dismissed." With a salute, Justin, Zach, Darquesse and I ran towards the Gunship that awaited us.
Hours later, the gunship arrived at the Forsaken Citadel. Stepping onto the cracked pavement, I gazed at the looming structure before us. The Forsaken Citadel, once a bustling hub of military activity for CHAOS, now stood silent and lonely. Unused artillery lay scattered around, overtaken by creeping vines and the encroaching wilderness. "So... this is the Forsaken Citadel? Looks more like an abandoned dungeon," I muttered to myself, taking in the eerie atmosphere. Justin nodded beside me, his expression grim as he surveyed the crumbling walls and overgrown courtyard. The air around us felt heavy with an ominous stillness, broken only by the faint rustling of overgrown foliage and the distant howl of wind through abandoned corridors. Faint screeches echoed deeper within the base, adding to the unsettling ambience. Our footsteps echoed hollowly on the worn stone floor as we cautiously entered the Citadel. A long, spiral flight of stairs greeted us, descending into darkness. The air grew cooler as we ventured deeper, our senses alert to every creak and shuffle in the shadows. Raising my laser rifle, I aimed it towards the abyss, walking down the stairs slowly. "Stay close," I whispered. "Keep your voices down. Sudden sounds might trigger the mutants." Justin nodded silently, his eyes scanning the shadows ahead as we descended deeper into the Forsaken Citadel. Darquesse crouched beside me, her sniper rifle ready and her eyes scanning the abyss of the base. As we finally reached the bottom of the stairs, I raised my fist as a sudden sign for my teammates to take cover the moment I heard a low growl. Peaking my head towards the entrance of the first room, I spotted a dark, humanoid silhouette, growling and roaming. "Okay, we'll sneak in slowly and quietly, got it?" I whispered to my teammates, who nodded to me silently. As we sneaked into the room, we crouched low. "Okay...Darquesse, take out that Mutant. Make it quick and silent." I whispered to Darq. "I'm always quick and silent," Darq replied, twirling her dual machetes. With fluid precision, Darquesse moved like a shadow, her footfalls silent against the cold stone floor. She closed in on the mutant, her machetes glinting faintly in the dim light. In one swift motion, she sunk her blades into the mutant's neck. The mutant fell with a quiet thud, its growl cut short.
Giving a thumbs up to Darquesse, we continued advancing. Heading forward, we found ourselves in a dark hallway. "I'm detecting hostile presences...10 of them," Justin whispered as his bionical eyes scanned the room. As Justin said that, I heard a low growl, followed by multiple, loud footsteps. My eyes shifted towards the hallway as 10, large black silhouettes emerged from the darkness, screeching and looking for prey. "Stay close and quiet," I replied, turning to my teammates. "We're sneaking past them." Keeping my laser rifle locked onto the mutants and not keeping my eyes off them, I started to keep low, trying to remain undetected by the eyes of the mutants. Just as I thought I was about to get past them, I heard a loud crunching noise, causing me to jump a little. Looking towards the source of the sound, my eyes widened as I realised I stepped on an empty can of Coke. The crunching noise echoed through the dark hallway, causing the Mutants to all look towards us. "Crap...! ENGAGE!" I yelled, as the Mutants gave out a loud, enraged screech and charged towards us.
