//EMMA STONE AS GEMMA//
The alarm rang loudly and I could hear my fathers booming voice briefing today's patrol down the hall. My father is the beta of the Moon Crest Pack and I will proudly take over his position next year when I turn 18. However, in order to get there, I still have to get through senior year; which coincidently starts today.
I swung my legs around and hopped off my bed. I figured I should look nice for my last first day of high school. I found a flowy white lacy dress that floated around my mid thighs. Then I set off to the bathroom and took a shower quickly, blow drying my auburn hair straight and putting the dress on. Werewolves are blessed with good genes but we still get the occasional pimple here and there being teenagers and all. I pulled out some concealer to cover up the doozy that had sprung up on my forehead over night. After I applied some mascara to my lashes to define my green eyes, and sprayed some of Marc Jacobs daisy perfume on my wrists and neck.
The smell of bacon wafted into my nose and evaded my senses. Another perk of being werewolves is enhanced senses. The sense of smell is supposed to help guide you to your mate because according to legend, the scent of your mate smells like heaven to you. Enhanced senses develop when you turn seventeen as a werewolf, so you can find your mate as soon as you reach that age. Some wolves find their mates immediately after their birthdays, finding out that they've been right here all along. But some wolves aren't that lucky; they have to search for their mates and in some rare cases, they never find them.
When I turned seventeen, everyone expected me to find my mate straight away since I was the oldest in my age group which means the younger guys hadn't turned seventeen to find their mates yet and there was a higher chance mine was right there. However, luck is not on my side and I ended up having no mate in the pack house which is exceedingly rare for beta bloodline. I guess the moon goddess picked someone extra special for me.
I made my way downstairs, following the amazing bacon scent into the dining room. All the teenagers in the pack sat at the extremely long table, helping themselves to heaping platters of bacon and toast and sausages. I took my seat next to Fin, the Alphas son. Fin and I are good friends considering we will be working closely together next year as I am his second in command.
"Hey! Leave some for me!" I playfully scolded Fin.
He continued to stuff his face full, flipping me off and giving me a food filled smile. He is disgusting, I don't know how Lucy, his mate, puts up with him.
After we ate, we all drove to school, some of us hitching rides with others. I hitched a ride with Fin and Lucy which I soon regretted when they began to act all lovey dovey right in front of me.
We arrived at the school... Finally. I jumped out of the car and ran to get away from them. Their love was choking me.
I caught up with Grace and Poppy, some of my other wolf pack friends as they walked to class. Us werewolves attend regular human school with regular humans so we have to be careful. The principal is a wolf so we get out of trouble a lot. I guess you could say we are the cool kids, not that we're mean or anything. With our blessed good looks, the humans look up to us or want to be us. There's a couple of humans sprinkled in with our group as well but we all stick together as one big family for the most part.
"Hey Gemma! I heard there's a new guy!" Poppy gossiped.
"I hope he's cute," Grace enthused.
I rolled my eyes, "He's human, what does it matter?"
"We know all the wolves and they're all either douches, mated, or idiots so I see no problem with looking at humans." Poppy defended.
Suddenly a faint aroma of mowed grass and woods hit my nose. I looked around to see what the source of the scent was, but nothing caught my eye. The door at the end of the hallway was open to outside so I guess it was just that.
"Do you guys smell that?" I asked them.
Poppy and Grace looked around and back at me, focusing on their senses. "Nope, all I smell is Jared's sweat and human." Grace answered. Jared looked back at us, hearing what Grace said, sending her a wink to which she rolled her eyes.
"Weird, it's gone." The smell no longer lingered around the hallway and I frowned at it's absence.
We entered the classroom and took our spots in the back of the class. Lucy was busy texting on her phone, no doubtedly to Fin, and Jared and some other wolves stood around rating some poor girls butt. Several humans scattered through out the room, forming their own gossip circles and groups.
Mr Mcoult came in and shut the door behind him.
"Welcome back to school kids. Happy senior year to some of you! I promise to make this years calculus class as fun as possible!" He was one of those overly happy teachers... Great just great.
The door opened widely and in stepped the hottest human I've ever seen in my life. He was tall and had blonde hair that was perfectly styled. I could see his biceps through his rolled up white Henley tee and his face was the face of the gods. AND HIS SCENT! Holy smokes! He was the source of the scent from the hallway. I inhaled deeply and reveled in the musky aroma. A fluttering was in my chest and my wolf was getting restless. His gorgeous brown eyes sweeped over the class, making eye contact with me for a brief second before moving on.
"Mate." I growled loudly. My mind was bombarded with questions through the pack mind link, but I pushed them to the side focusing all my attention on the boy in front of the class.
He pulled his perfect mouth into a perfect smile and his voice held an accent that made me weak at the knees, "Are you Australian too?"
