Alpha mind linked the whole pack that night to inform everyone of what was happening with my mate. He did so to prevent any wolves from exposing our secret to him thinking he already knows, but I did not appreciate the pity stares and gasps when I walk by. Everyone knew that I had to keep a secret from my mate.
I sat down at breakfast the next day, and the whole table goes silent.
"Stop staring!" I told them angrily, my beta command coming in handy. They all returned to their conversations sheepishly.
"I don't know how your gonna do it Gemma, honestly. I wouldn't make it through one day without being near Lucy." Fin looked at Lucy and interlocked their hands giving hers a squeeze.
"Thanks for the encouragement." I mumbled disheartingly, stuffing bacon in my mouth. Lucy slapped his shoulder lightly.
"It's okay, you'll be fine! We'll be there to help you!" Poppy chimed in.
"I just don't know what to do. How do I get him to fall in love with me without coming across as scary?" A frown settled on my face. I've dreamed about getting my mate since I was a little girl. I dreamed that we would fall in love at first sight and everything would be perfect. But now there's a chance that my mate might never love me the way he's supposed to.
"You just have to act like a regular human, go on dates and flirt. He'll be putty in your hands!" Poppy told me excitedly.
"Yeah, and he still feels the connection, maybe not as strong as you, but it will grow over time. I mean he felt the sparks in class." Grace offered me, jointing the conversation.
"Okay." I breathed out a deep sigh. I can do this.
We drove to school and made our way to class, my heart racing from nerves and partially from the fact that I can already smell his scent.
I stepped in behind Fin, my eyes immediately looking over at him.
He was just as perfect as yesterday, maybe even more so. My feet moved on their own accord and I went to sit next to him, in a trance.
"Hey Aaron." I breathed greeting him. The class was discreetly watching us.
"Hey Gemma." He sent me a grin, turning his body more towards me.
"So how are you liking Mount Crest high?" I looked into his eyes resisting looking at his perfect lips.
"It's great! I had a uniform back home, so it's nice to not have to wear a tie and blazer everyday." His eyes sparkled with cheekiness.
"Oh yeah, that must've sucked!" You know what else I can suck... Goddammit Gemma get it together!
"How about you? Have you always been here?" He asked genuinely interested.
"Yeah, I grew up here just like my parents and my grandparents and my great grandparents."
"Oh so your a true Mount Cress resident." He chuckled and I swore I saw his eyes flicker to my lips for a brief second. My grip on the chair tightened to restrain myself and my knuckles turned white.
"You okay there?" His gaze looked over at my knuckles. His accent rang loud and clear and was hot as hell.
"Hmm hmm." I relaxed my knuckles and nodded my head.
I mind linked Grace to come and help me out.She walked over and leaned on my desk. "Hey, I'm Grace."
"Aaron."
My stomach dropped as he turned his attention to Grace and checked her out. My face felt hot with jealousy and I mind linked for Grace to go away. She gave me a look and walked away quickly returning to her seat, mind linking me an apology that I accepted.
"Okay then?" Aaron said confused on why Grace suddenly left.
"She probably forgot to do her homework," I told him shrugging. "Do you wanna sit with me and my friends at lunch?"
He looked surprised, "Oh yeah sure!"
Mr Mcoult entered and Aaron grinned at me one last time before turning around and focusing on the lesson.
I let out a sigh of relief. I made it through a conversation without jumping his bones or revealing our secret. I consider that a success.

By the time lunch rolled around I was already antsy from being separated from him for two periods. What if he met some human girl in another class that he likes better than me? What if he doesn't feel our connection? This is such a terrible idea! Why is the moon goddess putting me through this! Ughhh.
I practically ran to the cafateria, pushing kids out of my way to get there.
Jared, Fin, and Poppy were already sitting at the table. I bought some pizza and sat down next to Poppy, making sure there was an empty seat next to me for Aaron.
Poppy and Jared were involved in a lively debate about fur color and Fin was talking to Lucy who had arrived shortly after I had. I watched as the masses of people burst through the cafeteria doors, but I couldn't spot the one person I wanted to see.
"You gonna eat that? Gemma hello?" Jared brought me back to the packed table. Nobody had sat in the seat next to me, knowing exactly who it was for.
"Huh? Oh yeah." I took a bite of my pizza and looked up to see Aaron walking over here.
A smile appeared on my face and he sat down next to me. His thigh brushed mine slightly and a chill ran up my spine.
"Guys this is Aaron." I introduced everyone at the table to him, telling Jared to fuck off in the mind link when he began to make suggestive faces at me while Aaron wasn't looking.
"Hey," Aaron greeted the table.
"So, when did you move here?" Fin asked Aaron, almost like an interrogation. Fin was rather protective of me because I am his beta and he wants to keep me safe.
"A week ago, we've been unpacking and stuff so I haven't really had time to explore the town." He took a bite of his pizza and I swear it was the sexiest bite of a pizza I've ever seen.
"I'd be happy to show you around sometime," I almost jumped at the chance but decided to play it cool.
"Really? That'd be great thanks!" He enthused, taking another bite.
"No problem!" I needed some alone time with Aaron if I was going to make him feel the same way about me as I feel about him.
