Two Lives One Secret

My eyes open to bright light streaming in through the windows of the little dirt hut. Next to me lies asleep my little sister. I am unable to get up because she is all over me. "Hey, good morning sleepyheads." Lioan says waking up my sister. She is so cute when she wakes. She wears a little pink nightgown with bows that tie at the shoulder. "Good morning sissy. Hi, Lioan did you sleep well?" My little sister smiles at me and pulls me out of bed. When I look down I realize I am wearing a matching nightgown. As I am being pulled outside my sister says, "Sissy, my name is Emi and I can't wait to play today." She looks at me with the biggest smile ever. As soon as I step out side I notice we are not at the same place as yesterday. I smell fresh new scents and for once I go to sleep in the forest and wake up there to. Emi lets go of my hand and tells me to follow her and Lioan to where we eat.

Minutes later we walk into a different dirt hut which looks way nicer then where we sleep. When we walk in I smell many different foods that I recognize, like sausage and bacon also eggs. I look around the hut and see many new faces staring strait at me. It is a little embarrassing cause I am wearing my nightgown while everyone's is in there clothes. "Good morning, Rebecca." Everyone says all at the same time. It makes me wonder how they know me, am I important or something. My mother walks into the room and everyone bows down, right then and there I realize that i'm the daughter of the chief. She comes right over to me and brings me to the most fancy table and sits me down. After I am settled she walks over to the counter and gets us our food. Emi sits right next to me with my two other sisters. My mother sets food down in front of all of us then sits down and starts eating. I put my hands together and say, "Dear Lord, thank you for this food and for this day and...." my mother stops me and asks what I was doing.

"I am praying to the lord, so that he knows that I am thankful for everything he has done." I try to explain to my mother.

"Show us how to pray please, Rebecca. It would mean a lot to us." My mother asks kindly. Which I can't say no to my mother so I stand up to begin. When I stand up everyone's attention turns to me. "My mother has asked me to show you all how to pray and say thanks to god. Will everyone put there hands together and repeat after me? Dear Lord, I thank you for this food and for this very day that I get to live and enjoy. Also for all the days ahead of me and for letting me be happy. Amen." Everyone even the little kids in the hut repeated all the words I said to them. My mother motions for me to sit down so they know that I am done. As soon as I sat down they began to eat again.

After we finished eating Emi brought me back to our hut to go get my clothes on. "Sissy, you and me get to go down to town. We have to run a few errands so we need to put on our nice clothes." Emi said to me.

"Why are we the ones to run the errands?"

"Sissy, if you think about it you have probably been to town billions of times."

"That is true but, is it really safe for just us to be doing the errands?"

"Oh no, its not just us Lioan is coming to."

"Ok, That is good to know. Wait what how is that better?"

"Sissy, he is the one to travel all around and find the last remaining kids to our tribe."

When we walk into the hut I see a fresh new pair of clothes laying on my bed. Emi walks over to the bed and pulls of her nightgown to put on a cute little blue and white dress with a white flower head band. My clothes for today are not what I would normally wear. It is a short red strapless dress with a pale jean jacket. For my headband is a red strap with a white flower. I hope into my dress just in time, because Lioan walks right in through the door asking are we ready. "Lioan, sissy is not dressed turn around!" Emi shouts.

"No, no I am it's fine. All I have to do is put on my shoes, which I don't see anywhere."

"That's good, but I was sure they put your shoes in here to." Lioan said scanning the floors when his eyes fell on white slip-on's. Lioan makes me sit down as he walks over to slid on my shoes. "So what exactly are we getting in town?" I ask curiously. Emi shows me a list of things we need to get. 

Books, Eggs, Bacon, Pork, Apples, Oranges, Mangoes, Tread, and any thing else that you want. 

"Is that it? You know I thought it would be much longer." 

"Sissy, you are crazy. Is everyone ready to go, cause I am ready."

"Yep I am ready." I say to Emi

After the long hour walk to town, Emi still has the energy to pull me over to a big blue bricked building called Oblivion Books, "Oh my goodness, sissy look at this!" Emi points to a series of books called Magic Fall. "This is my favorite series, sissy." We walk into the book store to grab a few books. Walking down the rows full of books I begin to get a felling that someone is watching me. Trying to ignore it I walk over to Emi, "Do you feel like we are being watched?" Emi looks at me and nods, but she still keeps the smile on her face. 

"Sissy, we are perfectly safe as long a Lioan is here." He comes around the corner with a large stack of books. "Do you need help, Lioan?" Emi asks as he dropped three of the books from his large stack. He nods not able to say anything because he is holding a book in his mouth. We walk over to him and grab some of the books from his arms to lighten his load. "Excuse me, are you really going to get all those books?" The owner of the store asked with a really puzzled look on his face.

"Yes, is there a problem with that?" Emi says

"Emi, do you want to get the next book of Magic Fall?"

"Who wouldn't? Thank you so much." The store owner comes around the cabinet to grab the books. He stuffs all the books into one large brown sack and hands it to me. "That will be 26.97." He looks at Lioan who was already shuffling through the sack of money. Lioan hands the guy his money and we leave the store to go to the next shop.
