Chapter 1
consequences to not minding your business
"Welcome, or welcome back to TNX, we hope that you all are ready to learn and train, remember the fate of our society is in your hands," spoke the organization's director, Mr Burns. "You are all lucky to be able to get this once in a lifetime opportunity, we believe that you will all do well."'What is The Nexus project?' you may be asking, well...
The Nexus project is an organization founded by an unknown group of people in 1998 with a goal of recruiting children that have strong talents, in either fighting, leading, technology and so forth, to teach them to use their skills to protect and serve the community, as a result of this project, crimes have been less frequent.
Almost every child wishes they could be picked to join the program but what they do not know is that having those abilities come with a lot of challenges, one being training.
In 1999 The Nexus project decided to introduce applications to join the organization, allowing people who think they have potential to join the organization be able to shoot their shot and apply.
Sometimes the organization may scout children they think have potential, most of the scouted kids being orphans.
TNX's recruits have to undergo hardcore training, training that sometimes causes serious injury and rarely death.
"Now, new recruits will be shown around the compound by Tyler and will get an introduction to the rules and what will happen during training and how we do things around here with Azalea, Quinn and Kai. Good luck with this year, dismissed."
The new kids were approached by Tyler, who had a neutral look on his face, making some of the new kids feel a bit intimidated and sweat in nervousness.
"Welcome to the program, I am Tyler and I will be your guide through this place."
Tyler Lawrence applied for and joined TNX at the age of 12.
He is one of the strongest recruits in the compound and some girls (and guys) may say he is also one of the finest people in the organization. He showed the new kids around the compound and explained what they do in certain rooms as well as. which rooms not to enter.
"Okay so, this room is strictly off limits as you can see," he gestured to a door which had a yellow warning sign with 'do not enter' written in bold red underneath it.
"Why?" Some boy asked.
"I don't know, it's been closed since 19-something."
"What do you think is in there?" A girl asked.
Tyler shrugged. "No clue, now to the training room."
He led the first years to the training room.
The training room was a room almost as big as a parking lot, one section dedicated to gym stuff, the other side is the shooting arena there as well as a boxing ring and two punching bags next to the ring. The rest of the room were for the mats for fighting, where some people were already practicing. And just like the rest of the compound the walls were gray and there were benches along the wall.
Three kids around the same age as Tyler were by the mats talking about something until they saw the first years there and Tyler stood next to them.
