Surviving The End?

Chapter Seven

We walked back to the RV, we feed the pups and put everything away. I showed him the extended area I made for pups to which he laughed. I told him he should laugh more to which we both blushed. I told him to wash up for dinner because it's done but it's a surprise. I grabbed four bread baskets loaded them with garlic bread sticks placing a warming charm on the baskets with a cloth to keep them covered. Once everyone was back from getting cleaned up I asked dad to help bring out dinner, he carried the covered pot while I grabbed the baskets.

I said, "Tonight I did something different so enjoy." I removed the lid from the pot and the cloth covering the baskets and started loading bowls to pass around, once everyone had a bowl and bread sticks I said eat up. I saw many just stare at the food, while others cry and others were devouring dinner like it might disappear from in front of them. I cleared my throat which snapped everyone out of their stupor and then began eating. I chuckled and started eating my food. After we ate our fill I told everyone what I caught for meat today and informed them of our new additions. Pointing to the two wolf pups sleeping off their dinner.

I informed everyone that bow and crossbow training was going well but I will need help keeping an eye on soo many. They informed everyone that the first two cell blocks are cleared of walkers but the bodies need to be burned and cells cleaned out.

I said, "Place all the bodies in the common area of each cell block for burning tomorrow, ventilation won't be a problem. All other burnable items that are useless or unusable add to the burn pile. Has the kitchen or pantry been found yet? That and the medical area should be found soon, so we can decide if we want to move the medical area. The eating area, the armory and the wardens office should also be located as well. I think tomorrow everyone should rest after burning the bodies, since two cell blocks have already been cleared. We can start deciding how we are going to make the cell blocks livable also."

For the next couple of days all cells were cleared out, the security office had a map of the prison on the wall which was copied onto parchment, I had it showing the location of everyone, the dead are red and blue are alive with the number in each area. Cell block C was badly infested but most were still in their cells with 200 walkers total, cell block D was mostly empty with 35 walkers, the dinning hall was infested with 150 walkers and the hospital ward had two walkers. The wardens office had three walkers.

We found what the prison called the box, it's a metal box outside away from the recreational area and found one body that's a walker. The outdoor recreational area also has 50 walkers. Each area has to be cleared out carefully to avoid being overrun. We found each cell block also has a security area to open individual cells or all cells in that block only. The kitchen with pantry area and laundry areas are clear of walkers at the moment, at least. Each day we looked at the map to ensure the walkers haven't moved elsewhere.

The next day Darryl and I flew to the Wardens office I opened the windows and I turned my broom sideways so Darryl would have a good shot, he killed all three walkers and we flew in. We checked for any stray walkers or dead bodies but we didn't find any. Darryl grabbed the keys from the guard while I checked out the wardens desk but found nothing.

I found the wall safe, I opened it to find two accounting books one for the State and the other book has the actual accounting. It seems the warden was embezzling quite alot, some prisoners were dead, while others were sold off as underground fighters, and some others were sold as prey for those that like to hunt humans verses animals. They were still on the books for the State because the prison gets paid for each prisoner but it didn't do the warden much good now did it.

I levitated the three bodies out the window to a spot outside the recreational area and then flew us to the watch tower to start killing off walkers in the recreational area but first I asked Darryl for his quiver and added the ruins to make it have unlimited bolts and handed it back to him. We started killing walkers until they were all permanently dead, I quickly did an area affect to ensure we didn't miss any but they are all dead, I quickly put up a strong shield around us as I sensed someone alive outside the wall. I turned around to see an arrow with red feathers bounce off the shield as I spotted them, they disappeared. I quickly levitated the three bodies from the wardens office and started making a pile for burning later.
