Kei hasn't been on a date since Kuroo dumped him. They dated since Kei was in his first year, and Kei is now a college freshman. Kei's biggest fear for the past eight months has been dating someone like Kuroo again. He wasn't evil or anything. He just wasn't the most amazing boyfriend ever.

But that doesn't matter today. Kei has a date. It's someone Kei's never met. it's actually one of his friends.

Kageyama asked him out last week. Kei was honestly very surprised when he did. But he was also so happy. Kageyama is taking him to the fancy Italian restaurant 2 miles away from Kei's apartment building. Kei has spent all morning getting ready to make sure he looked perfect. This is his first date in eight months. He can not mess this up.

Before he left, he put on a pair of platform shoes. Whenever he would wear them, Kuroo would always say he didn't need them since he was so tall already, but Kuroo isn't the one he's going out with tonight. He slipped on his headphones before he left and played his favorite song. Kuroo hated this song and would always beg for him to turn it off when it came on. But that wasn't important now.

When Kei got the restaurant, he was half expecting Kageyama to be late. But he wasnt, he was at a table waiting for him. When their eyes met, he saw Kageyama stand up as Kei started to walk to him. When kei gets to the table, Kageyamas pulls out his chair, all princely and stuff. Kuroo would never do something like that. Kei doesn't think Kageyama even knows how that makes his heart flutter a bit.

Kei feels his face heat up when Kageyama sits down again.

"You look absolutely beautiful, Tsuki." Kageyama says, his cheeks also a little pink.

"You clean up pretty well yourself." Kei lets out. His blush darkens when Kageyama laughs with him.

The waiter comes a little bit after that and takes their orders. Once the waiters left, they got back to talking.

"You know," Kageyama says, " if first year me found out we were on a date right now, he'd probably throw up."

"If fist year me saw this, he would have a stroke." Kei says, and that makes Kageyama throw his head back laughing, quite childishly, actually. Kei's cheeks heat up at that, and he looks away with a small smile on his face. Kuroo never really laughed at his jokes. Kei thought it was because he wasn't funny, but apparently, that isn't true.

As their conversation continues, Kageyama makes Kei almost forget about Kuroo multiple times. He makes Kei feel like their the only ones in the restaurant, and no one else in the world matters besides them.

"Tsuki, Im quite surprised with jow shy you are on dates." Kageyama points out.

"Well, you know how to make a guy feel special." It's said with sarcasm, but Kei knows there really isn't any behind the comment.

Soon, the waiter brings out their food, and they eat. But the conversation still flows. Its flows are better than any conversation Kei had with Kuroo. Kei is the happiest he's been in the past eight months.

After they finish eating, they walk put together.

"I guess this is where we slipt ways, huh?" Kei says.

"Only if I dont walk you to your car." Kageyama adds.

What feels like for the millonth time, Kei's face tints a shade of pink. "You dont have to do that, I parked like a block away." Kei doesn't know why he says this. He wants to be around Kageyama around for as long as possible right now. "Then you'd have to walk all the way back to. I really dont want to be a bother."

"Not a problem at all. Besides, a gentleman always walks his date to the car." Kageyama has definitely been a gentleman tonight. Before they start to walk, he even offers Kei his hand.

Kuroo would have rather killed himself than do all that walking, so this is very new for Kei. He even almost says that before he's interrupted.

"You wanna hear something weird? Every time Christmas comes around, my family always watches those weird claymation movies." Kageyama chuckles out. Kei laughed with him.

"My brother loves those moveis, but they used to scare me." Kei replied, earning himself another laugh from Kageyama.

As they walk down the block, Kei forgets all about Kuroo. Right now, all he's thinking about is Kageyama Tobio. He's a gentleman, funny, and he likes Kei. Kei feels like he's been blessed.

When they get to Keis car Kageyama asks, "Would I be presumptuous to ask you on a second date?"

"No, but would I be if I asked for a kiss?" Eko says it before he can think and regrets it for arojnd half a second. But that though evaporates when he feels Kageyama's hands on his waist. Then he's pulled into a kiss. It was short and sweet and romantic, and everything Kei has ever wanted.

They exchanged goodbyes, and Kei gets back in his car. As he drives home, he thinks about that date. Once he's home, he realizes that for the first time in eight months, the past is the past. Kei realizes he doesn't care about Kuroo anymore because he was the past. Kei was also gonna make sure he did whatever it takes to make Tobio his future.
