CHAPTER 𝐎𝐍𝐄
━━━ 𖡺★☽⋆⋆❥ ✳︎✧ ━━━

SITTING IN THE MIDDLE of the bleachers with a large crowd. I watched from a long distance how my best friend, Spencer James made a touch-down over again.

"Another touch down by the Charges! They win! The football announcer spoke through his microphone. Making the whole crowd cheering for Spencer and his teammates, me included.

Moments like this were the most beautiful to experience, watching my best friend play the game he fell in love with since he was a little kid.The pride and joy was completely to read on Spence's face as he took off his helmet.

He deserve it all.

Spencer's eyes move around trying to find me among all the people in the stands. it was hardly possible to see me with all these people in the stands, but when his eyes eventually found me, making me surprised.

I shoot him a soft smile. He flashes me a smile back. A wave of proudness washed me over, but that didn't last long. Both of our smiles quickly faded when gunshots were suddenly fired, causing everyone to scream in fear and duck. Only I did the opposite. no instincts of protecting myself were calling in my head.

I still stood up as if what had just happened didn't affect me or I scared me, which was true. Things like this happen too often in Crenshaw, that it no longer felt unexpected to me. it was like reality hit you again.

A green vehicle caught my attention as it drove away quickly, leaving a lifeless body on the sideline outside the football field. The kid must be around my age or younger, I can only blame bad luck for this. There is never a day when something good happens in this town.

In his own way, Crenshaw has always just been Crenshaw..

Suddenly I felt a strong grip onto my arm causing me to turn around. It was Spencer, his eyes looked worried. I forget it didn't go unnoticed as I stood instead of ducking like everyone else, when gunshots were fired.

"Harmony." Spencer says my name softly, his hand still held my arm tightly. I didn't even make any move to shake him loose. I didn't even dare to look into his eyes and it bothered him as he lifted up my chin, forcing me to look at him now.

"Are you okay? He questioned me. I felt his hand loosen a little around my arm until it let go completely. "Just another day in neighborhood, right?." I replied, not really giving him the exact answer he asked for. I was scared he was gonna questioning me why I didn't duck like everyone else.

He furrows his eyebrows, "Please just tell me you're okay, I was really worried." He asked again. Because of the neutral look I gave, he couldn't figure out if I was really okay. "I'm okay Spencer, there's nothing to worry about." I say, reassuring him with little smile. He nods, but some way I can tell he doesn't fully believe me.
