Chapter 3: The swordsman

The group was quiet but soon, the captain, Monkey D. Luffy began to celebrate and cheer since an Island was close- the ones with the oars paddled closer and began to dock the small boat on the coast before climbing off it onto the island. Koby and Luffy began to look up in shock and stared at the large marine base, they headed up there rather quickly leaving Carimile and You to walk slowly after them to catch up.

Carimile leaned in close to you, smiling as you walked through the streets- you had been friends for as long as you had been on Goa kingdom after Garp dropped you off there with Dadan. You reminisced on those times as you began to walk up the hill and saw Luffy and Koby looking over the small Marine base wall. You joined the two kids as you looked over it aswell, giving Carimile a boost to look over aswell as you held her, obviously making her blush.

The courtyard of the base was full of sand despite the island being mostly grass, in the middle was a malnourished and sickly looking man with bright green hair casually sat tied against a post- a young girl snuck past you all and ran to the man, handing him a riceball; Luffy drooled over the food and began to dream about having some before your attentions were caught by a group of three, two marines and a... unsightly... boy in a suit walked up to the girl, he began to stomp the riceball and threaten the girl making her run off after he pushed her down.

Zoro: " You shouldn't ruin other people's work "

Helmepo: " You should shut your mouth, no food or water remember and you'll be set free "

Zoro: " tch... bastard "

The group left and suddenly, Luffy jumped the wall and walked up to the swordsman- he leaned down in front of him and began to pick up the riceball, you and Carimile jumped the wall to follow him as you sighed and walked up with her to the man.

Zoro: " Hey feed me that "

Luffy: " Why it's full of sand and been trampled on "

Zoro: " Yeah so! That little girl made it for me so imma eat it "

Luffy agreed and helped the man eat the rice ball, he coughed since it was full of chocolate and jokingly commented on the girl's poor choice of flavour combination. He looked up at the three of you curiously and you could see his eyes darting around you all especially at your weapons; you saw him eye up your belt where there was a sword loop but no sword, at Luffy who didn't carry a weapon and then at Carimile who had ammo and guns both visibly on her.

You: " Why ya out here anyway? "

Zoro: " Insulted the captains son or something, I hit him and he got mad so I've been put out here with no food or water for 14 days to be set free "

You: " So they've sentenced you to death? "

Zoro: " No they'll set me free soon "

You: " You can't survive that long with no food or water, you're screwed "

Zoro: " Damn it, if only I had my swords, I could bust out of here "

Luffy: " If I get you your swords will you join our pirate crew! "

Zoro: " My names Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro! I kill pirates "

Luffy: " Cool I'm Monkey D. Luffy! I'll be back after I get your swords! "

Luffy ran off, running into the base as you sat outside with Zoro and sighed. He looked over at you and you could tell he was still trying to figure you out but you waited until he straight up asked to give him any answers.

Zoro: " Does he always try recruit people, as the captain shouldn't you stop him? "

You: " Hah! I'm not the captain, believe it or not he is! "
