Small town run away

Part 4

The next few days go by and nothing exciting happens, just normal days. Today is Duke's birthday and he is 19 years old.

"Morning Duke and happy birthday" I say as i walk into the kitchen"

"Morning and thanks" he says

Duke wants to hang out with a few of his friends so we were gonna have a birthday brunch kind of thing. Besides me and Duke there was Cal, Rhett, AJ and both of my parents and also there was Dukes girlfriend Liz. My father is cooking bacon of course while my mom is making the eggs and Rhettl is making hashbrowns and while AJ is trying to cook the sausages. I walk over and grab a loaf of bread and toss a few into the toaster. The cooking of brunch went by fast. As we eat there is a knock at the door. I walk towards the door and open it. I'm looking at Dukes friends.

"Hello everyone, Duke's in the kitchen' i say to them. I open the door all of the way and move. Many of them have been here before so they walk towards the kitchen. Many of the people i have already met, some of them i haven't. But there is one person I recognize immediately.

"Derrick i didn't expect to see you here I thought you were more of cal's friend" i ask him

He laughs and smiles, "duke invited me so i decided to come also Kayce i thought you would love to see me"

I let out a sigh, "derrick its always a pleasure to see you"

We both laugh. I close the door and start to walk back into the kitchen derrick walks with me side by side.

"Yo derrick i thought you gotten lost" duke says as me and derrick walk into the kitchen.

"No i was just talking to your sister" he says

Duke and Cal look at each other both nodding they looks like their having a whole non verbal conversation just by looking at each other then the two smirk then let out a laugh.

I give them a weird look, "what are you two up to?" i ask

The both speak at the same time, "Nothing"

I give them both a dirty look, "whatever you say boys" I tell them and walk away from them. I grab my plate and fill it up with more food and I walk away from the kitchen and into my room. Oh my god those boys are so annoying. The day goes by and its nightfall. I walk into my room and sit on my bed staring at the closet and in the closet in is the box in that box is a dress, a pair of shoes, a pearl necklace, a set of pearl earrings and two bracelets that are also pearl then the at the very bottom of the box was the note that read "I wish you were mine but i don't want to cross a certain line mi amor" looking at the note i keep on wondering who could this be. Who would want me? And what is the reason why they cross the line? What is the line and why did they say mi amor? Why did they say my love? I put everything back in the box then I move the box back into the closet. I carefully put the box on the top shelf in the closet and I move back and stare up at the box for a little while longer, slowly closing the door then finally shutting it. I walk towards my nightstand grabbing a hair tie, putting my hair up and talking off my glasses and getting into my bed. Slowly closing my eyes and very slowly drifting off to sleep.
