The Sound Of Heartbeat

Chapter One

She was only a few steps away from the entrance of the hospital Cafeteria,
the female nurse pushed her wheelchair slowly after opening the glass door for her.

Heaven quickly waved her hands in the air as she caught sight of her parents not far away and sitting at a table, obviously waiting for her.

Her eyes narrowed when whe saw four women and a man with them, it seemed...The faces of the four women and the man were familiar.

As her wheelchair was getting closer and closer to their place, she suddenly felt the corner of her eyes wet. Because as she got closer, she recognized them.

The people on the side of her parents, those were her friends when she was in high school, her friends before she had an accident seven years ago.

The Eveline who always hangs out in the school canteen is now wearing an elegant gray blazer and pencil skirt, Heaven is sure she has achieved her dream of being rich and lifted her family out of poverty.

Heaven's eyes went to another friend. Anastasia, her eyes that were once pure darkness are now filled with joy.  The only one friend who is sane but has many problems, seems to have solved her problems with her family and...love life.

And Lovelyn, Heaven looked at her stomach. That's big like unusual, it's a baby bump. The Lovelyn who wants to have a family of her own and says she will treat her children much better and not like how her mother treats her.

And he noticed Rian wearing a uniform like a nurse, maybe she works here in the hospital like she dreamed of before.

And in the end, Heaven looked right at her friend, Davin. The Davin who did nothing right but cheated in class. Suddenly he pointed to something on his chest and that's where Heaven's eyes fell, she looked at it and saw what was written on Davin's ID.

"Davin Astor, Civil Engineer."

Heaven couldn't help but smile and she could feel the joy in her heart, even if she wasn't successful at least they were.

They all made their dreams come true but here she is, like a withered vegetable in her wheelchair and even deaf.

That made her wonder, what would have happened if it wasn't for her accident? Will she be successful like them?

She finally got closer to where her parents and friends were. They were saying something while having happy expressions but even just one word  coming from them she could not hear. She felt bad.

Heaven was sitting quietly in her wheelchair, she looked up at her mom when she said something to her friends. It's like her mom told them that she had gone deaf.

But her deafness could not stop the chatter of her crazy friends because they took a whiteboard out of nowhere and wrote on it. It seems like they are really ready.

"Langit, I'm carrying baby number 3 now!" [Translation: Langit is Heaven in tagalog] That's what Lovelyn wrote on the whiteboard which Rian immediately erased and wrote something else too.

"I know you're assuming that I'm a nurse but I'm not! I'm a surgeon now! Lolo helped me passed!" Rian is still babbling even in letters. Heaven can't help but be proud because even now her friend still remembers her grandfather.

Anastasia immediately grabbed the whiteboard and looked at Rian with threatening eyes. "My bebe luvs and I are married!" She wrote there too.

"I was also pregnant on the way of my life's journey but now my life is happy!" Eveline wrote too.
