As Y/N and Sebastian both looked over the contents of the letter they had just received, John Brown walked back towards his horse, the forest's brush clinging to his boots. "Well, I've seen the delivery of the letter through," he said as he gave them a quick but polite wave. "So if you'll excuse me."Emily hissed in protest as John Brown began to ready himself for a second journey through the Werewolf's forest.
"Beware of the Wolfman on your return journey," Sebastian warned John Brown with a somewhat amused glance.
"I'm afraid you'll find yourself far from our help should you encounter him, or should we say, them," Y/N told the Master of the Horse as he took the reins into his hand, still not mounting the beast of a horse.
"Cheers," he hummed over his shoulder. "Do take care of the Earl." And with that, John Brown began to fade away, he and his horse slowly disappearing into the dark.
"Now then," Sebastian murmured as he and Y/N looked back down at the letter they had received. "At last, the time for a leisurely approach has passed."
Y/N folded the papers back into the envelope they had been delivered in. "I find myself in great disagreement with you, Sebastian. In fact, I feel this is all the more reason for a 'leisurely' approach. This proves what I have been saying this entire time. And as much as I care for you, as you know I do, I must argue that it is more effective for a creature with a heart to be in charge of the Earl," Y/N stood her ground as she gripped the demon's arm.
Sebastian's gaze was averted to one of the glowing windows of the Emerald Castle. No doubt it was one of Ciel's or Lady Sullivan's. He wasn't ignoring what Y/N was suggesting, but he did not agree in the slightest and she knew it. Her grip would've surely broken a normal man's arm by now, shattering through bone. But Sebastian was no normal man. And he would not be ordered around by something so close to human that he did not possess a contract with.
"Sebastian," Y/N sighed. "I know we hardly see eye to eye on anything. But I care for Ciel. Much more that I think you may understand. And I will do what I know is right for him. No matter what that might cost me."
Sebastian's glowing red eyes flitted down to her for a moment. "I am well aware of how much you care for the Young Master, Lady Y/N." The way he said it made Y/N's blood nearly run cold. At that moment, Sebastian was no longer her friend. "However, I will not allow you to continue to poison him. No matter how pure your intentions appear to be."
Y/N nodded. She understood her place. But that did not mean that she would accept it easily. "Snake, please take Oscar and step back inside. Make sure Baldo and Mey-Rin are not causing any disruptions," Y/N instructed the footman as she looked over her shoulder to him.
Snake could feel the tension between the Lady and the Butler. It was making his own knees weak. There was something desperately wrong with the both of them. But he could not deny orders from a Lady. "Yes, Shatter. -Says Emily."
Sebastian released Oscar completely and the snake immediately retreated to its translator. Snake scooped his scaly friend up from the grass and, with one last unsure look over his shoulder, returned down the path they had come from. Once she was sure Snake had returned to the confines of the Emerald Castle, Y/N released Sebastian. She immediately leaped backwards, two knives bearing the Phantomhive emblem sliding from her sleeves into her palms. She held a strong stance, her feet planted in the ground and her gaze unwavering.
"You know I can't let you do this, Sebastian," Y/N said.
The demon watched her for a moment. A sickening grin stretched across his lips. "I understand very well, Lady Y/N." Sebastian assumed his own stance, not much different from the woman whom he had spent so long training. Three knives slipped silently between his gloved fingers. "It appears we shall see how firmly you truly stand, my Lady."
