(Donatello's POV)

The Battle Shell crashes through gate and drives into junkyard. My name is Donatello, and I'm usually into building things. Battle Shell goes past, followed by a giant robot. It grabs the Battle Shell, holding it in place, wheels spinning. This particular thing, I'd like to take apart, real fast...  Robot begins beating in the sides of the Battle Shell and shaking up the occupants. ..before it takes us apart. Battle Shell pulls out of robot's grip to speed away, with robot chasing again.

The episode opens with camera panning across city and into a laboratory. A large vertical cylinder in the center of the room contains a glowing object.  A scientist in full protective gear approaches the cylinder.

"Journal entry 567, U.S. Government Commission Project, code name Nanotech." Dr. Marion Richards says while holding a clipboard. "Experiment proceeding as planned." She sets the clipboard down. "The nanobots continue to work together as a colony, coordinated by the hive mind contained within the robotic cells." Presses a button which lifts a microscope to eye level. Peers through microscope. "The safety restriction is still in place." Closeup of individual nanobots. "It cannot disassemble molecules or organic cells, as it will in the future when it performs microscopic operations." She steps back from microscope and presses another button, which causes a platform holding two mechanical devices to slide into the cylinder. "7:05 a.m., first test of its ability to take apart and reassemble mechanical devices."

Nanobot swarm hovers over devices and then peer through glass wall at scientist. They then converge on the devices, pulling them apart. Dr. Richards watches as nanobots turn the devices into a childlike robotic form.

"Ugh. Oh, please. I thought this was fixed. The mental structure of the hive mind is equivalent to that of a three-year-old child to facilitate absorbing new information." Nanobot touches the glass as it stares at the scientist. "It's personifying again. Ridiculous." She presses a button that shocks the nanobots, forcing them away from the machine parts. "This personality glitch will have to be eradicated as soon as possible. Ugh, wish I could do the same to this headache. I need a cup of coffee.",  Dr. Richards says as she turns to walk away.

Dr. Richards leaves room. Nanobots reform into childlike form using machine parts. One arm becomes a drill and it drills open a hole in the cylinder wall through which it slides out of captivity.  Nanobots drop the machine parts and escape through an air vent, whereupon they exit into an alley and flow out onto a city sidewalk and down to the street. Sliding along the edge of the sidewalk, the Nanobots move towards the sound of a voice.

"Hey, the new sci bots are here. Get 'em while they're hot." Nanobot collective stops to peek over edge of sidewalk at the man. "Come on. Come on, you bunch of ingrates. Somebody's got to want one of these things." Harry says as he is standing behind an open suitcase filled with toy robots. On the ground, several windup robots turn in circles.]  "You think you're too good for me?  Is that it?  Why I ought to . . . ." Cut back to Nanobots, who are still watching.

"Daddy? Daddy! Daddy, I want one.", a small boy says talking to his dad

"Okay. Okay. How much, pal?", the dad asks as he takes out his wallet.

"Five bucks. A bargain.", Harry tells him.

"I'll give you three.", the Dad says as he takes bills from wallet.

"Three? I got to make a living here.", Harry replies as the Nanobots continue to watch.

"Mmm, take it or leave it." The dad says as his kid is holding one of the sci bots.
