Louis' pov

The knock comes unexpectedly at Louis' office door, startling him out of the report on his desk. "Come in." He calls out, wishing everyone would just leave him alone.

The secretary, Eleanor, comes into his office.Louis tries to hold back his grimace, instead putting on a fake smile. Eleanor is only supposed to be the front desk secretary, dealing with incoming visitors and sending them to the correct place, and taking calls and redirecting them. She likes to make herself more important than she actually is.

However, Louis' attention is redirected when someone else follows Eleanor into his office. He can't be more than 19. Louis thinks to himself.

Louis lets his eyes rake over the seemingly skittish boy. He's taller, definitely taller than Louis, who stood at 5'8". The boy was probably 5'10", maybe even closer to 6 feet. He has curly brown hair, grown longer to where it curls behind his ears. He's quite handsome. Louis thinks to himself, before Eleanor starts speaking again, pulling him out of his thoughts.

"Mr Tomlinson, this is your new assistant." Eleanor says, earning a confused look from Louis.

"Assistant? When was this arranged?" Louis asks, turning his gaze to the boy, who is now looking at him. Louis almost misses Eleanor's answer, having fallen into the boy's sparkling green eyes.

"Mr Payne hired him for you." Louis rolled his eyes. Liam Payne, head of the Board of Directors. Louis and Liam had been friends since grade school.

They had gotten jobs in this company together, and quickly rose through the ranks. Liam had been promoted to CEO before Louis, and then when he was offered a position in the Board of Directors, he named Louis as his successor.

Liam is constantly trying to get Louis to stop working so hard. He claims that Louis needs to 'get a life', although Louis is perfectly happy dedicating all of his time to his job. It distracts him from everything in his life that he's desperately trying to escape.

"Ah, so this is Mr Payne's last ditch attempt to stop me from working so hard, yes?" Louis asks, and Eleanor nods. "Lovely. Thank you, Ms Calder." Louis says, waving a hand so as to dismiss her.

She stands there for a moment, before finally getting the hint. She drops a small note on Louis' desk before turning and hurrying out of the room. The boy is still standing in the middle of the room, looking unsure as to what to do next.

"What's your name?" Louis asks, and the boy seemingly snaps out of his trance.

"Harry. Harry Styles." The boy says quietly, and Louis smiles softly at him.

"Have a seat, Styles. I'm Louis Tomlinson." Harry goes to take a seat at one of the two chairs in front of Louis' desk. "How old are you?" Louis asks, leaning back against his chair.

"I'm 19." Harry says, his eyes darting between looking at his hands in his lap, and looking into Louis' eyes.

"Are you still in university?" Louis asks, and Harry nods.

"Yes sir." Harry says quietly.

"Which school are you attending?" Louis is genuinely interested in this boy and he doesn't know why.

"I'm in my second year at Westminster. I'm studying business." Harry says, his hands fiddling in his lap.

"So this is for your internship?" Louis asks, leaning back against his chair, his arms folding across his chest.

"Yes sir." Harry repeats.

"Well, Styles, I assure you I'll do everything in my power to ensure that you are treated well in this company." Louis says, and Harry gives him a small smile.

"Thank you, Mr Tomlinson." Harry says, and Louis smiles back at him.

"Now, you will be starting today. Ms Calder left me a note from Mr Payne, saying that your desk has been delivered and set up outside my office. Your primary position will be to take my phone calls, transfer important information through to me, and deal with incoming visitors sent up by Ms Calder. You will also be in charge of managing my schedule, as well as any other tasks I send your way. Most of it will involve filing. Do you understand?" Harry nods, and Louis leans forward.

"Excellent. I'll give you some time to get settled in. That'll be all, Styles. You are dismissed." Louis says, picking the report he had been reading before up and returning to his spot.

"Thank you, Mr Tomlinson." Harry says, before standing and leaving the office. Louis pays no attention to the report, instead watching the boy leave.

God, that boy is beautiful. Louis thinks, waiting for the door to close before leaning back in his chair and letting out a loud sigh. He would be lying if he said he wasn't insanely attracted to the boy, and that his pants hadn't threatened to tighten every time Harry called him 'Mr Tomlinson' or 'sir'.

Louis berated himself for those thoughts. But, as he dug deeper into his own brain, he found other thoughts. Thoughts that wanted to open up to Harry, to be with him, to share things about himself.

To tell Harry about his mom, and his sister, and his family, and the shit show that was his life. Louis swore to himself that he wouldn't take any action on his feelings toward Harry.

I'm a fucking mess, and I'm not gonna drag him into that. If only he knew how hard Harry would make it to keep that promise.
