Grant and Ree walk together through the dark cavern with the light from Grant's left palm which the thing only illuminated their way since they also had to walk away from the river, according to Grant.
Their walk is completely quiet the whole time except for their echoing footsteps in the cave.
As they walked, their senses were heightened, attuned to any movement or sound that might indicate danger lurking in the shadows. Each step was taken with caution, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of potential threats.
Not for long, Grant turned the light off when he saw a natural light from the mouth of the cave. They had to climb a bit to the mouth since it's quite high up.
"Okay. Before we step out, you have to squint your eyes." Grant said as they were nearing the mouth of the cave. The bright sunlight outside was a stark contrast to the dim, bioluminescent glow they had grown accustomed to inside the cavern.
Ree nodded, following Grant's advice. "Got it," he said, squinting his eyes against the blinding light as they neared the cave's exit.
Grant led the way, carefully navigating the climb. When they finally emerged from the cave, the light was overwhelming at first, causing both of them to shield their eyes until they adjusted. The fresh air and the sight of the open landscape beyond the cave were a welcome relief after the oppressive darkness of the cavern.
They sighed in relief, savouring the cool breeze and the lush green landscape that stretched out before them. The dense forest below promised shade and a chance to rest, a welcome change from the cavern's stifling air and harsh stone.
Ree took a deep breath, the fresh scent of pine and earth invigorating him. "I almost forgot what fresh air feels like," he said with a grin.
Grant chuckled, adjusting his pack. "It's a nice change, isn't it? By the way, while we head to the next destination up ahead, let's find a good spot to set up a campfire before dark just in case." Grant said and then they continued walking.
"Oh yeah. Almost forgot," Grant stopped when he just remembered something. He made a small opening on the bandage on his right palm and extended it out.
Pixie dust starts coming out of it and melding it together with Willow. After Willow's massive lizard-like fully solidified, they continued to walk again.
As they continued walking, the sunlight filtering through the canopy of leaves, created a dotted pattern on the grassy floor. The path ahead was lined with tall trees and thick underbrush, the sounds of wildlife creating a peaceful soundtrack to their journey.
The sky slowly turned to an orangish colour and decided to stop at a clearing that was big enough for three of them to sleep along with enough space to make a fire pit. There's even a river not too far from it.
"This looks like a great spot," Grant said as Willow immediately went to choose a spot beside a tree.
"Yeah, you're right," Ree said as he cut off some branches with his wind blades. Grant went to the middle of the clearing and dug a ten-ish wide and two-ish deep hole.
Ree then arranged some branches in the pit but then something slimy shot towards his hands and the branches.
Ree immediately looks up when he hears Grant's loud maniacal laugh. "I'm so sorry, Ree! I thought you gonna just put the branches in."
Ree looked back down at his now slimy hands and tried to take them off, a mixture of surprise and disgust on his face. "What is this anyway?"
Grant, still chuckling, shrugged apologetically. "Sorry for not telling earlier. Anyway, Willow's saliva is flammable so you better step back before I zap the pit."
