In the castle of Belle and Beast, their daughter, Mary, kept glancing out the window, across the sparkling blue sea, Mary could see the magical barrier flickering and shimmering over the island. It was so pretty, that far-off island of exiled prisoners...but Mary couldn't help but frown at the beautiful sight of it.
The royal tailor was fitting Mary into her baby blue coronation dress, writing Mary's measurements down on a notepad, when Belle and Beast walked into the room.
"How is it possible you're going to be crowned Queen next month?" Beast said, blinking his blue eyes behind a pair of glasses. The gold crown sitting atop his head and Belle wearing a similar one but fit for a queen that would soon sit on top of Mary's head.
"My baby girl has grown up so much so quickly." Belle said tears springing to her eyes.
"Thanks mom." Mary said tears springing to her eyes as well.
"How old are you again sweetie?" Beast asked Mary.
"Daad, you already know how old I am, and how old I'm going to be." Mary said teasingly.
"I apparently forgot my dear." Beast said jokingly.
"Dear she's going to be sixteen she has come of age to become queen." Belle said.
"Sixteen?" said Beast, taking off his glasses.
"That's far too young to be crowned queen. You know I didn't make a good decision until I was at least...forty-two." He smiled and tucked his glasses into his suit pocket.
"DAD, mom said that you decided to marry her at twenty-eight," Mary said, folding her arms.
"Ah, but I had a reason for that, it was either your mother or a teapot and you know I wasn't going for the teapot." Beast said, grinning proudly.
Mary rolled her eyes and so did Belle.
"Kidding," said Beast, holding his hands up in defense.
"Mom, Dad, I've chosen my first official proclamation!" said Mary
Beast and Belle looked at each other and smiled.
"I've decided that the children on the island of Eaten by Darkness should be given a chance..." She paused briefly, then continued "To live here in the kingdom of Dreams," Mary said afraid to look at her parents
Her parents gawked at her, wide-eyed.
The tailor, sensing the sudden tension, excused herself.
"Every time I look out towards the island," Mary said gesturing towards the window, "I feel like they've been abandoned."
"The children of our sworn enemies?" said Beast. "Living among us?"
"We start out with a few at first, of course, but only the ones who really need our help the most," said Mary "And I've already chosen them."
"Have you?" said Beast, a bit on edge. Belle gently placed a hand on Beast's arm. "I gave you a second chance," she said. She looked at Mary. "Who are their parents dear?"
Mary took a deep breath then said, "Cruella De Vil, Jafar, The Evil Queen..." Mary took another deep breath. "Maleficent, and The Horned King"
"The Horned King!" shouted Beast. "He is the worst of the worst, why would you want his child here?! He's worse than Maleficent herself! "
"Dad, wait a second please just hear me out." said Mary.
NO! I won't hear anymore of it!" Beast said fuming, "They are guilty of unspeakable crimes!"
"But their children are innocent," Mary said, now getting mad. "Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life?"
Beast stared long and hard at his stubborn daughter.
"Dad," said Mary, giving him her famous puppy eyes pleading face.
Beast looked softened and said, "OK, I suppose their children are innocent."
Ha!
And there it is.
Get ready for a world of pain!
